The Tang—Song Dynasty was important stage in the development of Chinese history, in this time because of political and economic strength, traffic advancement, active cultural communications between China and India monks have been continuing. This paper discourses China —India traffic and religious issues of communications between China and India monks in Tang—Song Dynasty from four parts.The first part describes activities, travel routes between China and India monks before the Tang Dynasty. The second part researches road routes'changes between China and India monks, and the investigation on Buddhist in India and states in South Sea, the changing position of leader in translation between China and India monks through Dunhuang documents and the literature that have been handed down from ancient times, revealing Buddhist's uneven development among India, with the political situation and status changing, China and India monks'predominant position in translation have been changing. A third part deals with Five—Song Dynasty (Guiyijun period), the exchanges between China and India monks went their destinations through Dunhuang, investigating that Guiyijun regime played an important role in traffic between China and India, Dunhuang' status has been strengthened and consolidated, analyzing that the foreign policy of the government impacted on monks' western march, pointing out that association between the State authority and monks' western march. A fourth part based on "Tang — Song changes"Vision inspectes monks exchanges, which is divided into three parts. Communication's routes between monks;relationship between politics and religion;cultural thoughts infiltration on the monks. Land route still dominated until Five— Song Dynasty, western march patterns have developed from individuals as the main body to an official despatch, monks impact on state power, and the Chinese-Indian exchange of ideas and cultures impact.Overall, in the Tang — Song dynasty China and India monks exchanges, absorbing some previous contacts feature of the previous—Tang Dynasty, and with its own characteristics. Meanwhile Dunhuang status as a center of Chinese traffic still stands solidity.
