The development of the commodity economy in the Song Dynasty also promoted the prosperity of Song Dynasty Buddhism. With the prosperity of the economy and the strong support of the rulers, and in the context of "three religions in one",the development of Buddhism and monks and nuns in the Song Dynasty was significantly different from that of any dynasty. As a supplement to the positive historical data, the historical data of notes can more objectively explain the gaps and shortcomings in the positive history. Therefore, the article tries to make a real introduction of the daily life of the monks and nuns in the Song Dynasty through the analysis and summary of the historical data of the notes to remedy deficiencies in the current research.Based on the fact that the number of monks and nuns in the Song Dynasty was soaring, this article focuses on the analysis of the living conditions of the monks and nuns in the Song Dynasty through three major aspects, namely, the identity of monks and nuns, their social life, and their secular life. The status before they became a monk would have a certain influence on their lives and the development of Buddhism. In the Song Dynasty, whether from the upper class such as aristocratic scholars and doctors,or the poor lower classes such as the old and weak women and children, they may become monks and nuns because of worship and belief in the Buddha. But maybe it is because of certain cultural knowledge acquired in the secular world,or some labor skills and other abilities may have a positive effect on the life after the monk and the development of Buddhism. It is precisely because of the development of the Song Dynasty's commodity economy and the great wealth of material that the worldly social life has become very colorful.Monks and nuns often go in and out,and sometimes they can't help themselves, leading to bad behavior that violates the commandments. But monks and nuns are increasingly taking on certain social responsibilities.Exerting personal abilities in many fields such as politics, military and commerce will not only enrich the daily life of monks and nuns, but also deepen the influence of Buddhism in the secular society and help promote the development of Buddhism. In addition, themonks and nuns still maintained close relationships with relatives and friends after they became monks, and happily attracted companions. They often make peace with friends and scholars, and even become confidantes. At the same time, under the influence of strong overseas trade in the Song Dynasty, the Song Dynasty resumed exchanges with overseas countries. It was against this background that the monks and nuns of the Song Dynasty organized activities such as spreading the Dharma, translating scriptures, and organizing Buddhist conferences with overseas monks and nuns, which not only promoted the development of Buddhism, but also strengthened the international influence of the Song Dynasty.
