| "Sanyan"" Erpai " is the most famous story collection of 5 sets of short stories in modern language from the Ming Dynasty, where the images of a group of prostitutes with rich time characteristics and bright personalities attract lots of attentions. The authors described prostitutes' living circumstances and spirits from many different angles of view, paid attentions to their destiny tragicomedies, and deeply revealed evil prostitution system. Despite of living extravagant and luxurious lives, these prostitutes suffered from insults and damages were beaten, scold and cheated by bawds and were tortured by men all day, were even made use of as tools. Although they fell in prostitute lives by mistakes and lived mean lives, they were not effected by surroundings, and filled with nice wishes of returning to the normal life in the heart, and looked forward to living a real and normal life, which all show new cognition of live values and insistent pursue of independent personality. In the mean time, the especial living circumstance gave them rich, delicate complicated personalities and unique mindsets, which normal women don't have. These women have talent, their straightforward and selfless pursue of love shows courage, insight and verve even better than men, and the appalling fierce fight spirits for their own destinies possess new citizen stratum' consciousness and strength. Compared with works in the same themes before, the prostitute images in "Sanyan" "Erpai" have some unique charm. This thesis proceeds the overall research to the prostitute in five novel image with appreciate beauty to enjoy, and investigate completely the prostitute exist, ability and learning, love, emotion, personality, destiny...etc. problem. We will investigate their special life style, and analyze the mental state characteristic, comprehend the social meaning of contain. We can know better the true circumstances with mindset of large prostitutes in Chinese traditional society. |
