Study On Tangpeng's Thoughts

Tangpeng , the famous practical thinker during the period of emperor Daoguang, was once an official who supervised national affair. He worked hard for life and wrote many books, so he was called a eminent person. There were many obvious practical frait in Tangpeng's thoughts, and he had special views in many aspects. To the social illness of that age, he expressed his extensive reform requiry which produced a great affect and set an example for later generation. This thesis will make a research into Tangpeng's thoughts including its formation and its main contents as well as its influence.This thesis is divided into three parts:Part I : I do a brief account for Tangpeng's family history, humanism and geography of hometown and his life, and analyses the cause of the formation of his thoughts in four aspects. The first is traditional Confucianism, the second rational knowledge, the third Hunan's traditional culture-practical knowledge and the fourth the influence of great thinkers and reformers in that age.Part II: I introduce the main contents of Tangpeng's thoughts and find extensively and deeply the marrow concealed in his thoughts, including the political thoughts in which he advocated kind polies and kindness to the people;agricultural economy that needed to cherishpeasant's time and labor;being for practical study and against void study and advocating reforms in these aspects, such as Cao transports Salt and river due to their illness.Part III: Speaking highlf of his historic contribution as a outstanding practical study and reformer, and stating his influence on society in that age, at the same time, in view of his limited times and class, pointing out his shortcoming in his thoughts.
