Psychoanalysis is one of the important theories which profoundly influenced literature and arts of both East and West. In 1930s, the extensive relation is constructed between Psychoanalysis and Chinese modern drama. Moreover, the theory influenced and accelerated the maturity of Chinese drama. The dissertation primarily studies Chinese modern drama during the mature period, and analyzes a series of mature elements including playwrights, play and performance. Some lessons are drawn from the essay in order to direct the present. The dissertation is mainly composed of three parts.The first part depicts the process of transmission about Psychoanalysis. Rather, the relation of modern playwrights and the theory is discussed and interpreted.The second chapter objectively evaluated aesthetical property of modern play by utilizing Psychoanalysis. The characters and some of original images are expressed during the period.Based on the above, the third section will proceed to a detailed discussion of the performance. Psychoanalysis plays an important role in the appreciation of the beauty of audiences.Taking account of all these factors, we can safely come to the conclusion that the communication between Psychoanalysis and drama will be continued and developed because both pay attention to human life and inner emotions.
