The Tentative Research On The Music Of DADU In The Yuan Dynasty

DADU' s music is refer to the capital music of Yuan , which respects the highest level of music in Yuan Dynasty. Because of war' s destruction to ZHONGDU, the precursor of DADU, the music spreaded and developed in a limited extension before DADU' buildingup. Owning to political stability and economic prosperity, full-scale construction of DADU' s music is under way after DADU' buildingup. However, in the final stage of Yuan Dynasty the outbreak of peasant revolt led to social unrest. As a result, DADU' s music was on the stagnation. The intercourse of music, however, was still advancing.DADU' s music can be seperated by two parts—music inside royal court and music outside royal court. Music inside royal court mainly inherited from the Mongolian nationality for generations. And it blended with the music of Tibetan, the Han nationality and foreign nations. Because of that, music inside royal court characteristiced by inheriting tradition and all-embracing. Music outside royal court includes traditional opera music, talking and singing music performed in singing building, geisha house and GOULAN site. The famous musicians and performers, borned and gathered in DADU, dedicated to the course in the music and art center of country.The music intercommunion in DADU city taked on a flourishing situation owning to the wide territory, ceaseless war and developed posthouse system, which promoted eastern and westen peoples to visit and migrate to the territoty. The high tide of musical culture exchange taking place between rich DADU and inmigrated people inaugurated a new history full of prosperity and iridescent coloring.This thesis preliminarily trim and research the music of Yuan Dynasty. I explore the music from multi-viewpoints and open out the historical features of it. Thus, we can better understand the situation and significance of DADU' s music in the musical history not only at China but also around the world.
