A Brief Discussion On Liang Qichao's Literary Enlightenment Thoughts

After the failure of constitutional Reform and Modernization 1898), Liang Qichao, by means of his own peculiar styles of thinking and his historic behaviour different from ever Jed the history from a political chang to a profoundly cultural enlightment one. Therefore, his "awake people" theory become a characteristic symbol of the chang. Meanwhile, literature was endowed with deep enlightenment connotations since then and become the best tool for "awake people". Liang's thoughts which was used to enlighten the nationals through literature had a gradually—built process and had various qualities and connotations at different stages in his life.This paper tries to analyse the formation and developing process of Liang Qichao's literatary enlightenment thoughts from four phase: phase one ,the rudimentary stage before September ,1898;phase two, the growing period from 1898 to 1901;phase three ,the mature period from 1902 to 1917;and phase four, the evoluting period from 1917 to 1929.And it also tries to find out the system of knowledge and source of his thoughts through the above mentioned analysis. With the maturity of his thoughts, Liang, who criticized the culture and advocated actively "the revolution in poetic, literary and novel fields", disclosed many cared notions during the New Cultural Movement (May4) and Literary Revolution period. Under his influence, the needs of literary enlightenment at that time regulated the trends of politicalization and realization from its contents, as well as the trends of popularization and multitudization from its form for the Literature of Late Qing Dynasty, and all these led to the transition to modernism in Chinese literature, which could also be considered the historical contribution of Liang Qichao's literary enlightenment thoughts.
