The Theory of New People is one of Liang Qichao’s masterpieces,aimed at changing the national character and shaping the ideal personality that China needs to move towards modern society.This idea has had a great impact on China’s feudal ethics and influenced a large number of intellectuals.The modern transformation of ethics has played an important role.At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,under the social background of China’s national sovereignty threatened,the disintegration of the feudal system and the decline of traditional culture,Liang Qichao put forward the"new people" under the influence of traditional Chinese Confucianism and Western thought and culture.The Theory of New People from the traditional Confucian ethics,meaning to reform the people’s moral values,with a good new I to cover the old I,Liang Qichao inherited this basic meaning,and in the absorption of a series of modern Western concept,the modern Chinese society Of the "new people"connotation.the main purpose of Th.e Theory of New People is to achieve from the"slave morality" to the change of civic morality.In particular,the new people to benefit the group as the highest goal,the interests of the group,national interests,national interests is the starting point and foothold of civic morality.Among them,both morality and private virtues complement each other.The traditional ethics of private individuals,and the modern nation-state citizenship must emphasize the individual’s public morality.On the one hand,only through the moral revolution can realize the task of the new people.On the other hand,the important way to realize the moral revolution is the "new" and the modern movement of the country.On this basis,Liang Qichao builds the ideal personality that embodies the moral morality of modern nation-state,that is,Democratic ideas,self-improvement,abide by the law,the national concept of the supremacy of the nation,with a strong physique and health mentality.The significance of The Theory of New People is that in the process of moving from feudal society to modern society,the ethical spirit of the new era is put forward,which inherits both the traditional excellent ethics and the modrn values.In the process of enlightenment and salvation There is also a rational trade-off between the promotion of individual freedom at the same time,but also stressed the importance of patriotism.In short,The Theory of New People for the reconstruction of modern ethics in China has made a historic contribution to the transformation of national claims,for today’s social moral construction still has important value and inspiration.
