Pub And Alley Fiction Style Of Neo-Shanghai Literature School

As an important chapter in the modern Chinese literature history, the development of Shanghai literature school declares the viewing process to the city, both aesthetic and cultural. With the tradition of the School, the auditing of Shanghai Fiction has made a great progress since 1990s and formed a Neo-Shanghai literature school.We examine the specific style of the neo-school novels from the perspective of two frequently used image in the novels, pub and alley, which reflects the extravagant scene of debauchery life and the days of common poor townsfolk. There are three parts in this paper.Chapter I The Growing up of Neo-Shanghai Literature SchoolWe start with a brief review about Shanghai Literature School, which focuses on the literature creation of neo-sense school and Zhang Ai-Iing. They represent two main branches of the school and construct a rolling, material, earthy, and townsfolk Shanghai. Their novels influence the neo-school writers and make a well beginning of the neo-school's growing up.Chapter II Pub: Window to the modern worldPub images frequently appear in the novels of the school. We analyzed the pub of spirit inhabitation and encountering, of bohemia bourgeoisie suffusion, and of lost and desire overflow. From the images, the style of the school constructed by pubs is declared.Chapter III Alley: Window to the traditional senseTaking Wang An-yi's works as examples, the paper analyze the colorful Shanghai alley buildings, smart and pragmatic daughter of the alley, and wanning neighbors in the alley, and shows the style of Shanghai townsfolk.
