On Wang Ling And His Poetry Writing

Wang ling is a poet whose poetry-style is rugged and peculiar, so he is especial in the field of poetry of North Song Dynasty. However, there has been no further research on his poems for many years. Based on wang ling's thought tendency as well as his poetics thought, which is neglected by predecessor in studying this dissertation will make comprehensive and deep study on wang ling's poem writing. This dissertation is made up of five parts.Part one is preface, and it briefly explains wang ling's transcendent talent, the evaluation of his poetry-style by later generations, the popularity of his poem, the study on his poems as well as its shortcoming in studying and the accent focus of this dissertation.Part two is concerned with wang ling's life and his thought tendency. It mainly approaches wang ling's real Confucian thought tendency and his poetics thought influenced by his real Confucian thought under the background of Confucianism risorgimento in the North Song Dynasty. His acts on traditional Confucian poetics on the one hand, and peruses the rugged and peculiar poetry-style on the other hand. Part three is about wang ling's poetry writing. It mainly analyses wang ing's ideas reflected in his poems. Because of his real Confucian thought tendency and traditional poetics thought of Confucian, wang ling's poems are permeated with reality meaning and it encompasses encouraging morale, criticizing reality and expressing feelings, and so on.Part four is wang ling's poetry writing, too. But it focuses on the analysis of wang ling's poetry-style. Because of his poetics thought, wang ling's poetry-style is distinctly rugged and peculiar. However, influenced by his submerged society position and general mood in the field of poetry, wang ling's poetry-style is fresh and natural otherwise. Then, compared wang ling's poetry-style with other's, we analyse the reasons why wang ling's poetry writing had little influence on the field of poetry at that time.Part five is epilogue. It discusses the change of poetry between learning from poetry-style of Tang dynasty and poetry-style of song dynasty after the song dynasty, and analyses the reason why wangling is neglected by later generations.
