A Study Of The Picking Image And The Picking Poems In The Book Of Songs

The poems tied with the image and the act of picking flowers , grasses .vegetables and etc (abbreviated form: the picking poems), as in The Book of Songs ,gave a miniature of the condition of remote production and life . Their appearance had countless ties with the surroundings, folk custom concepts, religious ideas and psychological mechanism of primitive people then. They were the profiles of social culture at that time.The paper made a summarization of the concept held on flower , grass ,fruit and vegetable by the people living when The Book of Songs was written, from six different aspects. , and analyzed the value orientation and culture function of the plants. Based on this analysis, the poems are, according to their ideological contents, approximately put into three categories: those poems written about people's yearning for somebody's love, those about yearning for one's hometown and close relatives and those about the act of offering sacrifices to ancestors. Tracing to its source from the psychological background, conceptual origin and its cause of pattern formation of the poem of each category , the paper revealed potential cultural connotations of the poems.
