TaiPingGuangJ i was written by the men in Song Dynasty. The time is from Westen Han to Five Dynasties. This article research fox, dragon and tiger in TaiPingGuangJi, so we may get a glimpse of the ancients' state of mind. This article has four parts:The first part: Fox. The fox in TaiPingGuangJi make pointed allusions to non-Han nationalities in ancient times, which is expounded and proved by my teacher, Mr Huang. The fox's natural instinct is suspicious, afraiding of dog and liking to live the tomb. So the fox story keep in contact with its natural instinct, which forms the basis of the sense, not out of sheer imagination. During middle ancient times, with the non-Nan nationalities coming into the Central Plain, the abroad culture and the Chinese culture effect each other, which cause the non-Han nationalities civilization. Buddhism and Taoism are popular in ancient times in China, the fox story is full of the concept of Buddhism and Taoism. In ghost stories, the relation between the man and the animal can't be ignored, which is the subject of the novel. We can draw some conclusions :in Tang Dynasty, the non-Han women lived in China ,who made a living as a prostitute or dealer; The marriage between the Hans and non-Hans had impediments; Buying and selling at marriage came into being. The second part: Dragon. In Chinese history, the dragon is lively, which should owe to Buddhism. In Buddhism, the dragon is an animal and Buddhism. It has wife and children. The dragon king's daughter is soft and mercy and has courage to pursue love. Its individuality is distinct. The dragon king in Buddhism and the dragon god in ancient China is a world of difference, the dragon king has character of man. In Chinese and Indian culture, the dragon maintains ties with the rain. In Buddhism, the dragon's duty is rain. In TaiPingGuangJi, the dragon can rain, so men pray for rain to the dragon. The third part: Tiger. The concept about the tiger come from China, is locally born and brought up. The man, who is villainous, guilty or ill, can change into the tiger, which embody that people is disgusted with those ones. The tiger can turn into man, generally, it get into disgusting monk and vile Taoist priest. The reason of these is that the ancients detested them. This article textual research the meaning of the tiger skin and tail in folklore. I point out the witchcraft exist in ancient China. The fourth part: Summarization. By the research of the fox, the dragon and the tiger in TaiPingGuangJi, we can make out: the novel in the Tang Dynasy is different from the one in the North-south Dynasy, it take on a new look. We can draw a conclusion: the remnants of feudalistic suzerain had died away in Tang Dynasy.
