This paper puts forward a concept of volitional adverbs by borrowing the theory of olitional and nonvolitional?and develops focusing on volitional adverbs. This paper presents that volitional adverb is one kind of adverbs that emphasize people affect action or guide result using certain mode on purpose, and mainly apply to describe I +MAN )J~ I(+AGENT)L K+VOLITIONAL)] verb. The article consists of 5 parts in discussion: Part us the definition and semantic features of volitional adverbs; Part Ills covert and overt volitional meaning of volitional adverbs; PartIll is typical circumstances of volitional adverbs; PartlV is non-typical circumstances of volitional adverbs; Part V is remaining discussion. In the course of study, the article touches upon the discussion about pie-verbal element and bound verb and describes their features, analyses by means of theory of grammaticalization and reanalysis. In the end, the article suggests that there is a corresponding relationship between pre-verbal elements and volitional adverbs. The study of pie-verbal element and bound verb has active significance to research volitional adverbs and adverbs further.
