A Study On The Text Of "Zhiyu"

By using discourse rearch and the Three-level Theory (syntactics,semantics and pragmatics ),this paper studies the structure, semantics and pragmatics functions of"Zhiyu"as a speech unit in context.This paper consists of five chapters as follows:The first part is the introduction.By probing into the former seholars'rearch on"Zhiyu",and some existing problems are pointed out. The source corpus,the purpose of the study, the research methods,and the importance of this study are presented in this part.The second part is about the syntactiecs features of the speech unit of"Zhiyu",discusses respectively the defining of the part of speech of"Zhiyu",its conjunction and its relevant sentences in terms of syntax.The third part is the semantic relations of the discourse of"Zhiyu".The relations that the part of which"Zhiyu"connects is called the semantic relations.We act on this semantic relations.First devide into two big kinds:the time relations and the logic relates.in the logical relations,it includes along meets,counter meets and switches relations.In the along meets.It includes the sequence relations and the gather relations.In the gather relations.It can be devide into compoundly,progressives and the attachment relations.In the counter meets.It can be divide into the transition.the contrast,the concessions relations.In the switch relations.it can be devided into transfers the topic connection and the transfers outside the topic connections.Because the semantic relations is established above the sentence content.We can devide intodifferent categories according to the different content in each of the semantic relations.The fourth part discuss the means of text cohesion of the"Zhiyu".Lexical Cohesion:the original word, synonym or near-synonym, hyponym, antonym, complementary, meronymy word reiteration. Grammatical Cohesion:anaphora,ellipsis,substitution and so on.The fifth part is the practical characteristic of the discourse of "Zhiyu".The sixth part is the conclusion,sums up the results of the discussions from different aspects and points out what this paper lacks and hasn't been developed to discuss and where further research is still needed.
