A Study Of The Education Folklore In The Novel Qilu Deng

The novel Qilu Deng was written by Li Lüyuan in the 18 century.It described abundant education folklore.The contemporary novels,such as the Dream of Red Chamber,The Scholars,and Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio,all reflect the attitude and viewpoint of studing,imperial examinations and education.Based on the previous research,this thesis begins with definition of education folklore.And then analyses the education folklore of Qilu Deng,attempt to demonstrate and probe the education concept of the author.This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part analyses the life of author,the social background and the direct motivation of the novel.The life experience of the author and Tan Shaowen who is the leading character in the novel is completely different,therefore the novel is not the author's autobiography.The purpose of writing is to express the problems of education.Social gambling style,the family background of private teachers,life experience of teaching,self-righteous heart and family education problem,provide the basis for the novel creation.The second part analyses the education folklore of Qilu Deng and contemporary Family Instructions.The novel Qilu Deng has close relationship with the novelist's Jiaxun Zhunyan.At the same time,it has the similar idea with the contemporary Family Instructions.In order to peep the relationship between the education folklore of Qilu Deng and social education folklore at that times,this thesis analyses the education folklore of Qilu Deng and contemporary Family Instructions from family,private school and society three aspects.The third part analyses the education concept of author from the education folklore in the novel,and compare with the contemporary novels.Qilu Deng as an education novel,demonstrates the education folklore,reflects education problems.But the novel don't reflect the individual and unique education problems,it reflectes education problems of society at that times,which is an important part of the society.As the contemporary novels,Dream of Red Chamber,The Scholars and Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio all describle rich education folklore.There is thinking of studying,imperial examination and the education problems in the three novels'education folklore.And the three novels all try to explore the solutions of education,express the attitude of education.Although The novel Qilu Deng,Dream of Red Chamber,and The Scholars,Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio,all describe the education folklore,they have different orientations and different education concept.Finally,The thesis briefly summarizes education folklore of Qilu Deng and the education concept of the author in the conclusion part, points out the inadequacies of this thesis and expresses the expectation of the novel's future research.
