A Study On Aesthetic Activity In Natural Scientific Research

Since the 20th century, stemming from the science of art, aesthetics has broken the limitation of taking only art as its sole research object and penetrated into every aspect of our daily life. In this brand new perspective, science and aesthetics finally converge from two poles of human society along with the development of science, rendering the born of a new concept--the scientific beauty.In the history of science, it is not difficult to discover that when new hypothesizes and theoretical models were proposed by scientists, the scientific methods they used involved not only considerable imagination, intuition and inspiration, but also an intense mental activity of pursuing, appreciating and creating beauty. We find beauty in science and aesthetic methods in the process of scientific research. We mainly analyze typical processes of scientific research with some representative examples to explore the forms and methods of aesthetic activities. This work could be split into 4 parts:Partâ… mainly targets at the existence of availability of scientific aesthetics. We first study how science is defined in the history and introspect science itself with respect to the essence of nature. By introducing the attitudes towards scientific beauty of famous scientists and philosophizers in the history to demonstrate that "science is beautiful". We discourse connotation of scientific beauty by the dialectical relationship of science and aesthetics, and finally we explain the aesthetic function of science.Partâ…¡focuses on the expression form of scientific aesthetic. By describing the process and mechanism of scientific aesthetic, we borrow the "mood" concept in art, which as the vector the scientific beauty. According to construction of scientific mood, we summarize the characteristics of scientific mood, and the significance of the mood as expression form of scientific aesthetic.Partâ…¢focuses on the aesthetic methods of scientific research. From features of scientific aesthetic and its, we propose basic types of scientific aesthetic methods, emphasize the effect of scientific aesthetic methods at different stages in research.Partâ…£evaluates scientific beauty. We emphasize that we should comprehensively grasp at the differentiation of scientific beauty which dialectically unifies relative and absolute, subjective and objective. Also we stress that we should avoid the errors of scientism and aesthetic ism.
