Since modern times, the culture exchanges between China and the West more frequent than before. Yung Wing benefited from this trend. He learned the western culture, and took part in the exchange between Chinese and the West. This paper is based on the relevant historical documents to discuss Yung Wing's endeavor for the culture change from the West to China and the culture change from China to the West, and his significance in the culture exchange.The paper has three chapters. The first chapter expounds the integrated generalization of the culture change from west to china and the culture change from china to west before 1960s, namely the backgrounds of Yung Wing devoted to the culture exchange between China and west. During this period, missionaries acted as the communication between Chinese and western culture. The countrymen joined it after the opium war. The second chapter discusses Yung Wing's western basis and the contribution to the culture change from west to china. These contributions include:promoted and supported the children to study the United States; in the economic thoughts and views, puts forward idea of setting a bank, opening shipping company and repairing railway. In addition, he has proposed establishing weapons and industry school and translation hall, translating western works and setting newspapers. The third chapter discusses that Yung Wing studies Chinese culture and the contribution to the culture change from china to west. These efforts include:urged children to learn Chinese culture; stetted Yale university Chinese lectures, and contributed to its own image spread Chinese culture. The power of supporting Yung Wing devoted to the culture exchange between China and west is asymptotic patriotism. Yung Wing engaged in activities exists a shortage, namely not be combined with Chinese national conditions, but does not affect his position in the exchanges between Chinese and western cultures. Yung Wing is the first Chinese people of first studying abroad, and graduating from the best American universities of Chinese in the culture exchange between China and west.
