Based on language contact theory, taking popular paroles as test items, this paper explores discussion notes of gender differences of popular paroles reading in Zhuji dialect from social linguistic perspectives.Language contact is a hot spot research for sociolinguistics, traditional study pays more attention to the contact among systems with distinguished typological differences, while the lack of research on the contact among different variants within the same language such as mandarin Chinese and dialect. The method of present researches on the contact between mandarin Chinese and dialect is relatively single, with often using dialect phonetics and vocabulary to compare similarities and differences of the new and old, and the language contact research on popular words is still blank. But in fact, new things and new buzzwords is the main reason for language contact and language variation. So popular paroles are extremely good materials to research the contact between dialect and mandarin Chinese.Therefore, with the beginning of popular paroles reading and language contact as the theoretical frarnework, this article discusses the gender differences of popular paroles reading in Zhuji dialect through the practical survey of recording, interview and questionnaire, meanwhile supplemented by the survey data of Zhuji dialect's language use, language competence and language attitude to explain the linguistic representations.The paper includes five chapters; the brief introduction of each chapter is as follows.The first chapter is the Introduction, in addition to the introduction of the relevant content such as research origin, approaches and methods, value and so on, also explains the relevant situation about selected subject, including the reason of taking popular paroles as test items, the concept of catchword and gender differences.Chapter two is the Research summarizes and Related notion explaining. Firstly, we review present domestic research, previous contact research mainly concern the contact happened among dialects or systems with distinguished typological differences. Differing from above research, this paper pay attention to the contact between mandarin Chinese and dialect which is kind of different variants within the same language. Contact between dialect and mandarin Chinese is the most extensive existence form in China, research on which has universal significance; Secondly, we restudied the contact research on dialect and mandarin Chinese, whose method is relatively traditional by using dialect phonetics and vocabulary to compare similarities and differences of the new and old. Compared with this traditional method, we take popular paroles as test items to survey the gender differences of popular paroles reading in Zhuji dialect, furthermore, to present the gender differences of Zhuji dialect, so it has innovation; Then we define and explain the concepts of temporarily protocolld Inter dialect, code-switching, literal vs. oral pronunciations of Chinese characters, and mutation of Zhuji dialect. Therefore, this chapter is the foundation in the full research.Chapter three is the investigation and analysis of the gender differences of popular paroles reading test in Zhuji dialect. Study data are all from questionnaire, recording and interviews. Firstly, we take popular paroles as independent variable to describe the gender differences and linguistic representations of popular paroles reading, and get three conclusions:(1) Gender differences of popular paroles reading exist in Zhuji dialect, the reading quantity is declining with the degressive age; (2) There is only a little gender differences of high-frequency words reading in Zhuji dialect, which refer to current political, incident event and daily concept; (3) The gender differences of new words reading in Zhuji dialect,which refer to new meanings and new use, is quite obvious. To further proof we rearrange investigation materials, then take age as independent variable to selective analysis the linguistic phenomenon of interdialect, code-switching, grammar limit, literal vs. oral pronunciations of Chinese characters, and mutation of Zhuji dialect in which the gender differences is prominence, and get two conclusions:(1) The youth's ability of reading popular paroles in Zhuji dialect is the weakest, the gender differences is the most obvious; (2) The gender differences of popular paroles reading in Zhuji dialect is consistent with the differences of Zhuji dialect's language use, language competence and language attitude in fact. Actually, the gender differences of popular paroles reading is the differences of Zhuji dialect. Chapter four is the Discussion about the gender differences in Zhuji dialect. We comprehensive analysis the gender differences in Zhuji dialect by questionnaire survey, which mainly involves language use, language competence and language attitude these three aspects of content. Through the statistic analysis we get conclusions as follows:(1) The use and competence of Zhuji dialect presented the gradient gender descending, the use frequency is declining with the degressive age, mandarin Chinese is the most main factor in the effect of Zhuji dialect; (2) There are different gender differences in different register, mandarin Chinese and Zhuji dialect respectively occupied different fields in social life; (3) Language attitude affects language use, and is consistent with the differences of language use.Chapter five is the Conclusion which summarizes main idea of the whole paper and related conclusions.In a word, this paper starts from the angle of popular paroles, in the direction of the language contact theory and with the methods of social linguistics to investigate and analysis comprehensively and thoroughly of the gender differences of popular paroles reading in Zhuji dialect. The paper opens a new perspective for contact research between mandarin Chinese and Zhuji dialect and dialects of social research, provides a new example for contact research, so it has certain theoretical and realistic significance.
