The Study Of Gender Marker In Chinese Dialect Words

Gender marker refers to ’the word in Chinese dialect which has the function of gender or gender points to the formation of compounds.In this paper,we try to combine synchronic study with diachronic study,using multidimensional analysis and dialect geography method.For more comprehensive research,we examine the matter from different angles such as language ontology,history and culture,social psychology and so on.The main contents of the paper are as follows:In the first chapter,the basic concepts are defined,also the domestic and foreign research present situation and trend about the subject are introduced.This chapter contains the selected topic reason and the research value,the research goal and methods,research emphasis and difficulties,paper source of corpus and theoretical basis are also introduced.The second chapter mainly categorizes gender markers of Chinese dialect words from various angles such as gender points,the geography about gender,the source of the gender,and the main source of gender marker are introduced in details.The third chapter mainly summarizes on gender markers involved in the form of word formation,and renders their lexical characteristics.The words which include gender markers are divided into single syllable word,double syllable words,three syllable words and four syllable words,we also discuss the phenomena of the continuous and overlapping use of the gender markers.Two word formation characteristics of the word formation are summarized:one is the strong tie-in combination ability;the othe is the open way of word-formation.At the end of this chapter,we also discuss the phenomenon of vacancy about the gender markers.The fourth chapter mainly explores the geographical differences on gender markers.Firstly,we describe the differences in gender markers used by the same object in different dialects;secondly,we examine the differences in the location of gender markers in the Chinese dialect words,these gender markers exist in the dialect points with the differencs between the north and the south.Thirdly,we analyze the type traits of the gender markers which both have the roof-mounted type and after-set type.According to the factors of the different types and the subtle differences of the same type,this paper tries to explore and analyze the matter from the angle of dialect contact,and reference to other factors appropriately.The fifth chapter mainly discusses grammaticalization of gender markers.This paper detailed the performance of all the area of the grammaticalization of gender markers;also pointed out that the generalization is a major way of grammaticalization of gender markers.The grammatical form of gender markers is generalization which can be divided into three stages.The stages are generalization in the similar genera,generalization in the different genera and the degree of generalization.As to reveal the inducements about the grammaticalization,the cognitive style,national cultural psychology and social production and living style are mentioned.
