In the teaching of Mandarin, teaching materials really important. Teacher must choose the right materials for the student. In Indonesia, Mandarin Language is not yet included in fixed lesson, Mandarin Language's teaching hours is still very limited, teaching materials also do not uniform. All depends on the experience of teachers and what teachers want. The level of teacher in Indonesia is not uniform and this will have effect on the students learning outcomes. Many students feel chinese character as one of their obstacles in learning mandarin, chinese character structure really complicated and most difficult to be mastered. In order to know more the mandarin program in Indonesia, Author chose first grade until third grade elementary school in Indonesia. The author divided the teaching of chinese character in Indonesia into first grade until third grade which was analyzed with first grade until third grade in China, Taiwan, Hongkong and also analyzed its teaching material. This countries had good experience in teaching chinese character. Then Author researched and established what should be the chinese character teaching materials for first grade until third grade. Finally, discussed how to teach Hanzi to be more interesting, appropriate with the student in Indonesia. Hopefully, this thesis could be useful for readers and Mandarin teachers.
