There are different new words in different eras in that words are the reflection of the times. With the rapid development of science and technology, new things emerged in endlessly as well as the life-style and the way of thinking of people changed dramatically, which are first demonstrated in the level of vocabulary. Therefore, words are a mirror of the age, which means that new words in a given era can reflect the features, even the most important ones in that age.Language is almost in the way of changing and unchanging, in which the stability is of crucial importance. The change, however, takes place all the time. Language is the tool of communication and different linguistic contexts needs different languages to meet the aim of communication. The purpose of Language study is to enable people to use language and communicate with others thoughts and feelings better.Hence, researches on language are supposed to study the most newest language that can mirror the language changes. But in fact, such studies are always behind the language of that time.Researches on the new words have a long history and especially researches in modern time are fruitful. Some concern about the stable description from the perspectives of phonology, semantic and grammar; some do the diachronic exploration about the causes, development and evolution; some discuss the origin and developmental trends from the aspects of pragmatics, society, culture, even do the prediction research. This thesis selected those typical and popular new words in the late decade, mainly in 2008 as the research object. On the basis of researches did by the senior scholars, the writer reached four kinds of prevalence model, namely metaphor, metonymy, generalization and frame-filled model through the analysis of the reasons for prevalence of new words, the outer factors of its emergence, its own developmental pattern of language and the structure of new words in syllable, form and grammar. The writer also described the group phenomenon, ie abundant class affix and word groups. Then she made the brief analysis of the motivation of prevalence of new words, based on which the writer discuss the attitude towards the endless new words. Due to the short existence of the new words and lack of the fully development, researchers are expected to study the new words positively and give sufficient space for the existence and the development of the new words with attitude of fault-tolerance, which means to let new words were tested by time to be stable or eliminated. Meanwhile the writer emphasized "fault tolerance" does not mean that we can do nothing to the new words and language workers are under an obligation to keep language developing healthily and purely, namely "cleanliness maintenance". We must constantly study the continuous new words, by which we can understand the nature of language deeper and then adjust the language standard to make the two more match. In the end of analysis of popular new words, the paper backed to the pragmatic practice and analyzed the approach to Chinese language teaching, particularly in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Teaching new words can not be avoided and students should have access to those typical new words closely related to their lives. Simultaneously, in the teaching process, we can not teach the new words without selection of the popular new terms. After all, language taught in the classroom relative to public language use is more demonstrative and normative, therefore it should be stricter.
