Demonstrative pronoun that refers to near had two great developments in its history. One of the developments occurred in the Wei and Jin periods, when a number of new demonstrative pronoun that refers to near were produced。The other appeared in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Compared with the first, the change of this time is greater. It inherited and developed a number of previous demonstrative pronouns that refers to near, and produced some new demonstrative pronouns that refer to near, such as "Zhe", which became the most important demonstrative pronouns that refer to near in modern Chinese.This paper chooses two books of Tang and Song Dynasties-Zutangji and Jingdechuandenglu, whose tongue close to spoken language. Their demonstrative pronouns that refer to near are rich and can represent the overview of proximal pronoun of Tang and Song Dynasties. In addition, the paper also consults a number of other documents, such as Dunhuangbianwen and some poetry. Through the research, we can eventually sort out the context of the proximal pronoun during this period.This paper includes five chapters:Chapter one is the prolegomenon. It introduces the research status of the subject, research method and research significance.Chapter two and Chapter three studies the function of demonstrative pronoun that refers to near of Zutangji and Jingdechuandenglu so we can understand the overview of proximal pronoun of Tang and Song Dynasties.Chapter four based on Chapter two and Chapter three analyses the changes in the number, frequency of use and grammatical function of demonstrative pronoun that refers to near from the periods before the unification of the Qin Dynasty to Tang and Song Dynasties.Chapter five is the status of pronouns and a brief summary of this article.
