Objective: To analysis the clinical characteristic of familial essential tremor (ET) (including motor and non-motor symptoms). Methods: 1) We select 5 familial essential tremor (FET) pedigrees (including 27of Han nationality,9 of Uygur nationality and 4 of Hazakh nationality), and analyzed their motor symptoms and genetic features; 2) We selected 44 solitary ET patients, and analyzed their motor symptoms of Clinical characteristic (including tremor place,tremor classification,experiment of draw a circle and alcohol test); 3) 44 ET patients (including familial and solitary patients) and 43 health subjects, Was evaluated by means of Hamilton rating scale for depression (HAMD), Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). To comprehended ET patient's non-motor symptoms (anxiety,depressed and Sleep disorder). Results: 1) There were 40 patients in 5 pedigrees, included 22 males and 10 females, and their ages of onset were from 17 to 65. Development of disease from different nation, and There were at least 2 patients in every generation of family A, B, C, D and E, indicating autosomal dominant inheritance, 40 patients who had positive family history, their ages of onset were after 40. The tremor affected both upper extremities in most patients, furthermore unilateral upper extremities, head, mouth, Both lower extremities. Most part of patients had the good effect after alcohol drinking, in patients who had performed alcohol test. And its hard to them to complete fine activities. 2) there are 44 solitary ET patients, 26 males and 18 females, and their ages of onset were from 28 to 70. most of them ages of onset were after 40. The tremor affected both upper extremities in most patients, furthermore unilateral upper extremities, head, mouth, Both lower extremities. 3) Most of patients take orally of propranolol or alcohol was effective. Part of patients when they were agitation, the tremor may aggratate. most of the patients to complete the fine activities difficult. The ET patients who had anxiety, depressed and Sleep disorder, is more then health subjects (P<0.05). Conclusions: FET is autosomal dominant inheritance. Both in familial and solitary ET patients The both upper extremities tremor was the main manifestation of essential tremor, tremor affected head, face, Both lower extremities, its hard to patient, to complete fine activities. take orally of propranolol or alcohol was effective.
