Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of acoustic immitance in diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy in children. Methods: 101 children with adenoid hypertrophy who were diagnosed by nasal endoscopy were included.Adenoid hypertrophy were measured using both pharynx nasalis spiral CT scanning and acoustic immitance. To compare the positive rates of the two examining methods in diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy in children. Results: 1. There were statistical differences between pharynx nasalis spiral CT scanning and acoustic immitance in diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy by"C"type tympanogram(P<0.05).The positive rate of acoustic immitance was lower than that of the pharynx nasalis spiral CT scanning.2. There was no statistical difference between the two examining methods in diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy by"C"type and"B"type tympanogram(P>0.05).Conclusion: In the clinic of otorhinolaryngology, acoustic immitance is a convenient, sensitive and economic method to diagnose adenoid hypertrophy in children, and might be recommended as a common examination for the children with suspicious adenoid hypertrophy.
