Objective: Adenoids hypertrophy is one of common otorhinolaryngology diseases in childhood. Recently we found that the incidence of adenoid hypertrophy may be associated with food intolerance. This subject aims to evaluate the relationship between adenoids hypertrophy and food intolerance in children and provide a theoretical basis for prevention and treatment of adenoids hypertrophy. Methods: A clinical study from May 2008 to February 2011 was carried out. A total of 111 cases of adenoidal hypertrophy in patients as case group, A total of 30 cases of no history of allergy, allergy-related diseases and adenoidal symptoms as a control group. Compare the differences between the results of food intolerance. Result: 111 cases of adenoidal hypertrophy patients and 30 patients in control group were in food intolerance testing, the positive rates were 82.9% and 43.3%, the difference was statistically significant. The degree of food intolerance between adenoid hypertrophy group and the control group are different, and the difference was statistically significant. Adenoid hypertrophy group and control group, high and moderate sensitive to food allergens' total detection rates were 70.3% and 30.0%, the difference was statistically significant. Check for food intolerance is highly sensitive, moderately sensitive in patients with type analysis, and found adenoid hypertrophy group and control group patients were 82.6% and 61.5% for two, two or more food intolerances, the difference was not statistically significant. In the daily consumption of 14 food items, adenoidal hypertrophy in patients with elevated food-specific IgG for the first three are eggs (71.2%), milk (67.6%) and cod (13.5%), control group are milk (23.3%), eggs(20.0%) and cod (16.7%). Conclusion: Adenoid hypertrophy and food intolerance, especially with food intolerance is highly sensitive, moderately sensitive, has a significant correlation. The relationship between adenoid hypertrophy and intolerance for multiple food needs further study.
