Objective:The economic development of society and the impact of multiculturalism caused quite a lot of single-families in society. The incompleteness of single-family's structure limits its functioning, and easily impact children's growth. As the literature report:The children of six to twelve year's old accept the fact that living with their single parent and decrease their self-blame, but still to remain the felling of abandon and impact their school work; when the children of twelve to eighteen year's old facing this condition, they always have the feeling of vacuity, dread attention disorganization. How is the status of the single-parent nine to sixteen years old primary and secondary students in Tianjin?This research firstly investigate the status of single-parent primary and secondary students, their mental health condition and analyze the related factors,Methods:This research used questionnaire surveys to measure the mental health of more than 1800 students in May 5,2009 to October 16,2009. Those students were selected in 36classes, which were chosen according to random stratified cluster sampling from six areas of Tianjin 12 elementary and junior middle schools. Questionnaire content include:the students'general conditions, Mental Health of Test(MHT), Egma Minnea av Bardndosnauppforstran(EMBU), The Feelings of Inadequacy Scale(FIS) and Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90).Results:This research received a total of 1522 valid questionnaires. In those 1522 valid questionnaires,165 questionnaires were single-parent families of students, accounting for 10.8% overall.①The percentage of single students is 12.85%in Heping District. It is the highest in six District;②The mental health problems detection rate is close to 2:lbetween the single-parent children in a family and those children in an integrate family, the difference was statistically significant(Z=4.21,P<0.001);③The anxiety to study and people,self-accusation tendency,solitary tendency,sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency, impulsive tendency as well as total scores in children from a single-parent family were significantly higher than those in children from an integrated family,the difference was statistically significant(t=2.21-4.81, P<0.05);④The anxiety to study and people,solitary tendency, sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency as well as total scores in primary school children from a single-parent family were significantly higher than those in children from an integrated family, the difference was statistically significant (t=2.42~3.56,P<0.05);⑤The sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency as well as total scores in junior high school students from a single-parent family were significantly higher than those in students from an integrated family, the difference was statistically significant (t=2.17~3.14,P<0.05);⑥The anxiety to study and to people, sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency as well as total scores in boys from a single-parent family were significantly higher than those in boys from an integrated family, the difference was statistically significant(t=2.11~3.78,P<0.05);⑦The solitary tendency, sensitive tendency,physical symptom, impulsive tendency as well as total scores in girls from a single-parent family were significantly higher than those in girls from an integrated family.the difference was statistically significant (t=2.15~2.96,P<0.05);⑧In the anxiety to study,the difference between the parents from university group and college group was statistically significant(P=0.04).In the anxiety to people,self-accusation tendency, sensitive tendency,terrorist tendency,the difference between the parents from university group and secondary school group was statistically significant(P<0.05);⑨In the father's harsh punishment,excessive interference,refused to deny,overly protective,the difference between the problem group and the health group was statistically significant(P<0.05). In the mother's harsh punishment,excessive interference and overly protective,refused to deny,the difference between the problem group and the health group was statistically significant (P<0.01);⑩Regression analysis shows that, father's refused to deny to the anxiety to study and to people,self-accusation tendency,solitary tendency,allergic tendency,physical symptom,terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency, inferiority of the young people from a single-parent family has a positive effect prediction(P<0.01); father's overly protective to the anxiety to study,self-accusation tendency of the young people from a single-parent family has a positive effect prediction (P<0.05);father's emotive worm to the inferiority of the young people from a single-parent family has a negative effect prediction(P=0.007); mother's refused to deny to the anxiety to study and people,self-accusation tendency,solitary tendency, sensitive tendency of the young people from a single-parent family has a positive effect prediction(P<0.05); mother's harsh punishment to sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency of the young people from a single-parent family has a positive effect prediction(P<0.05); mother's excessive interference and overly protective to the anxiety to study and people of the young people from a single-parent family has a positive effect prediction(P<0.05); mother's emotive worm to the inferiority of the young people from a single-parent family has a negative effect prediction(P=0.000).Conclusion:①As the grade becoming higher, the percentage of single students have growing trend;②The mental heath problems of children in single-parent family are more than the children in integrated family, specifically expressed in the anxiety to people,solitary tendency, sensitive tendency,physical symptom, terrorist tendency,impulsive tendency and inferiority, etc;③The mental heath problems of children in the single-parent family arise not only with their parents'low educational level and their parents'poor self adaptability; but also with the father's refused to deny,overly protective,mother's refused to deny, harsh punishment,etc.
