A Study Of High-risk Behavior And Intervention For Aids Of Female Sexual Worker In Low Grade Pleace

Objectives: It is studied to learn the AIDS knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, behavior status for the female sex workers in low grade pleace in Chongqing, to reduce their high-risk sexual behavior, to explore the health education and behavioral intervention to the target population including AIDS prevention for sexually transmitted diseases ,and guiding them to reduce high-risk sexual behavior, seeing a doctor. It is also studied to assess the effect of the health education and behavior intervention and to provide a scientific basis for high level work.Methods: Both the quantitative and qualitative method have been used, investigation Questionnaire has been designed in the quantitative survey based on the HIV infection knowledge form WTO, the State Ministry of Health, National DDC, the content of which has included demographic, population characteristics, basic knowledge of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, sexual risk behavior, medical treatment status and situation of using condoms. The data has been analyzed. All site observation method, personal thorough interview, the focus group interviews have been carried out in qualitative survey to collect the characteristic of their place, the organizational form and transaction characteristics of commercial sexual services, and the need of the target population. intervention has been carried out through releasing the condoms and intervention materials about AIDS prevention knowledge provided by the CDC in Chongqing. The same questionnaire with the baseline survey has been used to carry out investigation after intervention. A comparative analysis of the indicators between before and after intervention has been done.Results: The low-grade establishments with commercial sexual services have gradually increased, such as small hotels, restaurants, which are in the high hidden, difficult to achieve for investigators, and the trust difficult to be carried out even after close to the target population. 283 female sex workers are in the baseline survey, 146 from the small private hotels, 28 from the tea house, 39 from the salon, 25 were from small karaoke bars. The youngest is 16 years old, and the biggest 46-year-old.population between 20 years old and 35 years old are accounting for 86.56 percent, the median age is 21.4 years old. They have low educational levels. The main educational level accounted for 56.30 percent is primary schools, accounted for 34.45% is junior education. Only 13 people got senior secondary and secondary education, and 9 were illiteracy. Marital Status is 42.43% married , and 31.93% unmarried, 20.59% cohabitation , and 12 people divorced or widowed. Their knowledge rate of AIDS transmission and prevention is low, the total pass of AIDS awareness rate was 49.96 percent, the awareness rate of the three major transmission were that mother to child transmission were 85.29%; blood transmission 64.29%, condom using 67.64 percent. The awareness rate of a healthy person will spread AIDS is low to 32.78%, the awareness rate on whether the mosquito bites infecting an AIDS is the lowest, 22.69%. People without using or less using condom during commercial sex in the past month are accounting for 36.55%. Condom using is low. People with reproductive or urinary system symptoms in the past 6 months are accounting for 74.48%, 19.33% of which medical treatment to the formal sector. Through the intervention, AIDS related knowledge of target population has been enhanced, condom using has also been improved, the likelihood of HIV infection might increase, and the proportion change a good attitude to willing to actively engage in HIV voluntary counseling and testing had increased., willing to actively engage in HIV voluntary counseling and testing had increased the proportion of persons. Through this survey the premises network was established to prevent the spread of AIDS, the development of a number of relatively high education level of human resources ensure to carry out similar work and intervention and the sustainable development of work in the future.Conclusions: The health needs of AIDS of female sex workers within the low levels workplace is very high. the basic knowledge of AIDS and the awareness rate of transmission is low, and the high risk behaviors of HIV infection is more in these proportion, so there is potential risk of the AIDS epidemic. we must intensify their AIDS prevention interventions. Comprehensive and systematic public education about AIDS prevention is necessary which has been documented in the past. More targeted integrated interventions to such population finally should been carried out.
