This study based on the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and directed by the theory of modern rehabilitation was undertaken to evaluate the treatment with traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and facilitation technique of rehabilitation for the post-stroke spasticity.The paper includes two parts:the clinical study and the literature summaries.In the clinical study.This study included 40 post-stroke spasticity patients. There were 20 patients in the subject group, which were treated with TCM fumigation and facilitation technique of rehabilitation for 20 days. There were 20 patients in the control group, which were only treated with facilitation technique of rehabilitation for the same time.All patients were assessed by modified Ashworth Scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and modified Barthel Index (MBI) Score. Statistical analysis showed that:the subject group in the modified Ashworth Scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Modified Barthel Index (MBI) Score are better than the control group (P<0.05).There are two literature summaries. The first one is "systematic review on post-stroke spasticity", it introduces the general questions, the assessment, the pathogenesis and the treatments of the post-stroke spasticity. The second one is "systematic review of TCM fumigation treatment", it introduces the origin of TCM fumigation treatment, theoretical basis of modern, TCM fumigation treatment of post-stroke spasticity study of prescriptions, the pathogenesis and the treatments of the post-stroke spasticity from the aspect of TCM.Conclusion:The treatment with traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and facilitation technique of rehabilitation in subject group has better effect than the control group on the improving post-stroke spasticity and benefit to the motor function and ability of daily life of the stroke patients.
