Objective by Studying the effects of Erweiduzhongtang capsules on bone mineral densi-ty, bone biomechanics,bone wet weight and dry weight,inorganic elements,biochemical mark-ers of bone metabolismof ovariectomied rats after administrationr, we understand the mecha-nism of treatment to postmenopausal osteoporosis about Erweiduzhongtang and provide a relia-ble experimental basis on traditional medicine for the clinical treatment of postmenopausal os-teoporosis medication. Methods We selected the simulation modeling experiments in animal experiments, and took 84 female rats in the study, they were randomly divided into 7groups: Sham-operated group,model group,diethylstilbestrol group,gushukang group,Erweiduzhong-tang capsule at high,medium,low dose groups, there were 12 rats in every groups. After suc-cess of model, we fed rats for 90 days under the same situation, then the drugs were initiated separately on each rats for 90 days. All rats were sacrificed, the blood were collected to be in-spected respectively and detected the bone mineral density, bone biomechanics, inorganic ele-ments, and dry weight, biochemical markers of bone metabolismof ovariectomied rats. ResultsCompariing with the model group, the Erweiduzhongtang increased the level of bone mineral density, bone biomechanics, bone wet weight and dry weight, inorganic elements Significantly (P<0.01). Conclusions Erweiduzhongtang capsule increased the level of bone mineral density of ovariectomied rats; improved the ability of bone to withstand external shocks, en-hanced the wet and dry weight of the bone. This study improved that Erweiduzhongtang had re-markable effects of prevention and treatment to postmenopausal osteoporosis resulted from ovar-iectomied rats. It proved objectively that Erweiduzhongtang capsules, which may contain a-bundant inorganic elements of bone metabolism related, may have some clinical significance to the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis, by regulating the balance of the body Ca, P, Mg, Zn and other inorganic elements.
