Effect Of Psychological Intervention On Anxiety Or Depression And Blood Pressure Of Elderly Patients With Hypertension In A Community

Objective:To survey on both unhealthy emotions and blood pressure changes of old people with hypertension in a community before and after psychological intervention. To probe into the influence of psychological intervention on the unhealthy emotion of them.Method:a total of 101 old people with hypertension in a community were performed three-month follow-up investigation by adopting case-control method,48 of them were accepted combined psychological intervention,the other 53 cases were accepted treatment as routine.All cases were investigated on their biood pressure and mental state by filling out the self-rating depression scale(SDS)and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS).Result:The blood pressure and the scores of SAS and SDS were balanced between two groups before psychological intervention ;.After intervention , the score of SAS in control group was not significant difference between before and after treatment as routine (P>0.05). The score of SAS was decreased in psychological-intervention group,there was remarkable descending of SAS scoring in patients of psychological intervention(P<0.05) .; After intervention , the score of SDS in control group,there was not significant difference between before and after treatment as routine(P>0.05).The score of SAS was decreased in psychological-intervention group,there was remarkable descending of SDS score in patients of psychological intervention(P<0.05);With the treatment continous conducted,the blood pressure of patients in control group was decreased gradually, while there was remarkable descending of blood pressure in patients of psychological intervention(P<0.05) .Conclusion: Psychological intervention could palliate the depression and anxiety of old people with hypertension in a community. Psychological intervention has greatly effects for treating old people with hypertension.Therefore,it is very necessary to use both medicine and Psychological intervention for raising curative effect of drug and controlling hypertension in geriatric patients.
