Objective To investigate the change of serum visfatin levels and the relationship of serum visfatin levels with body mass index, fasting serum glucose, blood lipids and other factors in the subjects of acute cerebral infarction. Methods Serum visfatin levels were assayed by ElISA in patients with acute cerebral infarction and controls. The relationship of serum visfatin level with BMI, blood lipids, fasting serum glucose were also assayed. Further more, we compare serum visfatin changes of different NIHSS score and different sex in patients with acute cerebral infarction,to find out the relationship of serum visfatin levels with sex, the change of patients'condition. Results (1)Serum visfatin levels in the acute cerebral infarction patients were rised comparing with the controls, serum visfatin levels in the female were rised compared with the male. The higher NIHSS score was,the higher serum visfatin levels were. (2)Serum visfatin level was positively correlated with fasting serum glucose and negtively with high density lipoproteine holesterol. (3)Multiple regression analysis showed that fasting serum glucose and high density lipoproteine holesterol were independent related factors in influencing serum visfatin levels. Conclusion Fasting serum glucose and high density lipoproteine holesterol were independent related factors in influencing serum visfatin levels. The change of visfatin levels is associated with sex and patients'condition, which may contribute to the pathogenesis of cerebral infarction.
