Objective:TRPV3,a nonselective cation channel protein,is prominently expressed in cell membrane that can be activated by the physiological temperatures range of 32 to 39℃and a series of nonthermal stimuli such as camphor, thymol, eugenol and 2-aminethoxydiphenyl borate(2-APB), involved in a variety of biological functions, including temperature sensation, inflammation, stability of intracellular and extracellular calcium ions and cell signal transduction.Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors, whose mechanism remains elusive. To elucidate its role in hepatocarcinogenesis, we analyzed the expression of TRPV3 in tumour tissues of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) samples. Methods:Tissue samples and clinical data were obtained from 62 patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma(HCC) who underwent hepatectomy between 2005 and 2009 at the Department of Surgery, Xiangya 2nd Hospital, Central South University. The expression of TRPV3 were assessed by immunohistochemistry in the study. Furthermore, the correlations between expression of TRPV3 and clinicopathological parameters including the histopathological differentiation, tumor size and number, portal vein invasion, were analyzed.Result:Immunohistochemistry of 62 HCC samples showed that marked expression of TRPV3 was noted in the majority [35/62 (56.5%)],low expression of TRPV3 was observed in 27/62 (43.5%)cases. Clinicopathological evaluation indicated a significant correlation between high expression of TRPV3 and clinicopathological parameters of histopathological differentiation (p=0.001),tumor size (p=0.011),number of tumor(p=0.0036) and portal vein invasion(p=0.004).Conclusions:The results suggest that TRPV3 may play an important role in hepatocarcinogenesis and can be potentially used as a prognostic indicator of patients with HCC.
