Expression And Clinic Pathologic Significance Of EpCAM And CK-19 In Benign And Malignant Lesions Of The Stomach

Objective:To study the expressions of EpCAM and CK-19 and their clinical patheological features in in benign and malignant lesionsof the stomach.Mathods:Expression of EpCAM and CK-19 in 58 cases of gastric cancer,58 cases of mucosa near cancer and 60 cases of benign lesion were detected using NovolinkTM immunohistochemical method.Results:The expression ratio of EpCAM was significantly higher in gastric cancer than in mucosa near cancer or benign lesion, while the expression of CK-19 was not different. Significant relationship was found among the expression of EpCAM and age, depth of infiltration, pathological grade and TNM stage (P<0.05). The expression of CK-19 was uncorrelated with age, depth of infiltration, pathological grade and TNM stage etc (P>0.05). And there is not a relationship between EpCAM and CK-19 (P>0.05)Conclusion:The expression of EpCAM increased in the gastric cancer. But the expression of CK-19 did not. No significant difference was found in the expression of EpCAM and CK-19. EpCAM may be a helpful stem cell marker in tumorigenesis, progress and prognosis of gastric cancer, but CK-19 may did none help for that.
