Background:Training needs analysis is the first step of the training management activities and scientific needs analysis is prerequisite and linchpin for the successful training. Training needs analysis plays an important role on training for officials, and is the basis of training, provides criteria for training evaluation and is an important means to ensure the effectiveness of training. In view of the reality of drug administrators in China, there is a certain gap between the overall capability of drug administrators and requirements of duties and goals of staff construction.Objectives:This study will deeply analyze professional knowledge training needs of drug administrators in China to provide evidence for scientific and rational professional knowledge training to drug administrators, to make the training of drug authority to obtain the desired effect, to promote the quality and capacity of drug administrators in China, to promote the safety of drug use of the people.Methods:Data of this study are from literature, from questionnaire survey, interview and experts'guidance. Data input method contains establishing questionnaire database in Epidata3.1 first and then inputting valid questionnaires, interview data was collated, analyzed and extracted by interviewer, SPSS13.0 software was used for frequency analysis and logistic regression analysis of questionnaire data.Research contents:In this study, the research contents contains definition on related concept of professional knowledge of drug administrators, analysis of drug administrators situation in the human resources, analysis of training needs of drug administrators to each kind of professional knowledge, analysis of the influencing factors to training needs of drug administrators to each kind of professional knowledge.Results and conclusions:Professional knowledge of drug administrators contains pharmaceutics, drug quality management, drug administration, drug test technology and curatorial economy & market. And each kind of knowledge contains many subjects. Drug administrators situation in the human resources is the proportion of male is roughly twice as much as female, mainly in young and middle age, mainly in junior college qualification and undergraduate course qualification, the highest proportion in major is pharmacy, the second is law major, mainly in 11-20 years and 21-30years in length of service, the proportion of administrative post is the highest, the second is all-around management post and the third is leading post of bureau, the working hours in current post mostly in 1-3 years and 4-10 years.In this study, analysis of professional knowledge training needs of drug administrators in China is in accordance with the administrative post, the leading post of bureau and all-around management post. I.Pharmaceutics knowledge: there are 6 subjects in higher training needs for administrative posts, there are only 2 subjects in higher training needs for leading posts of bureau, and there are no subjects in higher training needs for all-around management posts. II. Drug quality management knowledge: there is a consistence between the training needs of administrative posts and leading posts of bureau to this kind of knowledge, and are all in higher training needs to 4 subjects, comparatively, there are just a few subjects in higher training needs for all-around management posts. III. Drug adminstration knowledge: there is a consistence between the training needs of administrative posts and leading posts of bureau to this kind of knowledge, and are all in higher training needs to most subjects, comparatively, there are fewer subjects in higher training needs for all-around management posts, but over half of all. IV. Drug test technology knowledge: there is a consistence between the training needs of leading posts of bureau and all-around management posts to this kind of knowledge, and are only in higher training needs to the same 2 subjects, comparatively, there are more subjects in higher training needs for administrative posts. V. Knowledge of curatorial economy & market: there are no subjects in higher training needs for administrative posts, leading posts of bureau and all-around management posts.The analysis of the influencing factors to training needs of drug administrators to each kind of professional knowledge shows that there are 5 factors such as regional factors, organization level, post, length of service and major educational level are influencing factors to the whole training needs of professional knowledge; there are 6 factors such as regional factors, organization level, post, length of service, major and educational level are influencing factors to the training needs of pharmaceutics knowledge; there are 6 factors such as gender, regional factors, organization level, post, length of service and major are influencing factors to the training needs of drug quality management knowledge; there are 8 factors such as gender, regional factors, organization level, post, working hours in the post, length of service, major and educational level are influencing factors to the training needs of drug administration knowledge; there are 5 factors such as age, organization level, post, length of service and major are influencing factors to the training needs of drug test technology knowledge; there are 4 factors such as regional factors, organization level, post and length of service are influencing factors to the training needs of knowledge of curatorial economy & market.Suggestions:The trainees should be categorized into the administrative post, the leading post of bureau and all-around management post; the training contents of each kind of trainee is supposed to be the subjects whose average score of training degree is not less than 1.Innovations and drawbacks:Innovations of this study are designing a mensurable index of training needs and it is used to analyze the training needs degree of drug administrators in China to professional knowledge quantitatively, analyzing the influencing factors of training needs of drug administrators to professional knowledge. The drawbacks are the study only focuses heavily on the staff analysis in three areas of training needs analysis due to the limitations of information and researcher's concern.
