Cardamine leucantha O.E.Schulz belongs to Cardamine genus, Brassicaceae family. The root of this plant is used as a folk medicine named"Cai Zi Qi"in China for treating chincough and bronchitis. The chemical constituents of Cardamine leucantha have been reported rarely. Therefore, we conducted studies on chemical constituents of the title plant. The n-butanol extracts were subjected to further isolation by column chromatography and recrystallization. So far seven compounds have been identified from the title plant including kaempferol-3-O-β-D-galactoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnoside (CLB30-1), esculin (CLB30-2), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-galactoside-7-O-β-D -glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-O-α-L-rhamnoside (CLB30-5), kaempferol-3-O-β-D -glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-O-β-D-galactoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnoside (CLB30-6), 6-hydroxyindole-3-carboxylic acid 6-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (CLB30-7), kaempferol -3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-O-β-D-galactoside-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-O-α-L-rhamnoside (CLB30-8), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnoside (CLB50-1). And there are four compounds which have not been identified. All of the identified compounds were isolated and identified in this genus for the first time. And kaempferol-3-O-β-D-galactoside-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-O-α-L-rhamnoside, kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-O-β-D-galactoside-7 -O-α-L-rhamnoside, kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-O-β-D-galactoside -7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-O-α-L-rhamnoside are three new compounds. This work has made a contribution to the studies of this folk medicine, and will also be useful for the chemotaxonomy research of this species. In this thesis, we also summarized the studies on kaempferol glycosides, chemical constituents of Cardamine species and its relatives in the past few years.
