| Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of needling Five zang-organs shu in treating depression and to explore the mechanism of applying Five zang-organs shu to treat this disease , and to provide a new way for treating depression with acupuncture.Methods: 60 patients who meet the "Chinese Classification and Diagnostic Criteria of Mental Disorders Third Edition" (CCMD-III) in the diagnostic criteria for depressive episode and standards of traditional Chinese medicine differentiation of depression (off 4), were randomly divided into two groups, treatment group 28 patients, 28 patients in control group. The treatment group using acupuncture for Five zang-organs shu and the control group using routine acupuncture treatment ,both treatment courses are six weeks. The two groups were observed before and after treatment with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD, 17 version) and the factor scores and the various symptoms of clinical symptoms score changes.Results: By statistical analysis, the total significant efficiency in treatment group and control group are 82.14% and 53.57% respectively. The total curative effects and the inspections of the two groups have significant difference. (P<0.05), and HAMD scale in improving factors, especially for anxiety/body change factor, weight factor, cognitive impairment factor, block factor etc, the curative effect of treatment group was better than control group; In improving TCM symptoms, The total significant efficiency of the treatment group is 71.43%, and the control group is 25.00% , The total curative effect by rank and inspection of the two groups have very significant difference (P<0.01), the curative effect of treatment group was better than control group, and obviously improved the clinical symptoms, such as melancholy, low spirits, bad appetite, bosom frowzily and pain in the liver area, inclination for sigh, irritability and so on. Conclusion: Acupuncture Five zang -organs shu in treating depression can regulate visceral functions from overall perspective with distinct curative effects.It can significantly improve patients'TCM symptoms. |
