Purpose: Evaluate the RCT literatures on treating bronchial asthma with point application published between 1979 Jaurary and 2010 December. Methods: Retrieve the RCT literatures on treating bronchial asthma with point application published between 1979 Jaurary and 2010 December and establish the database with Microsoft Access 2000, then Meta analysis. Result: Of all the 50 included studies, there are 49 descripted demographic characteristics, 47 comparied the balance between groups, 8 randomized by random number table and 1 by flipping a coin, 4 are quasi-randomised controlled trials. There is only 1 literature mentions random scheme hidden, 2 mention blinding. There are 12 literatures mention follow-up visit, 15 mention adverse reaction, 3 mention dropout and 1 mentions elimination. All the researches analysed statistically and 27 of them descripted the specific statistic method. Meta analysis shows that there is significant statistical difference on clinical effect between point application and drug theropy, and this conclusion is stable and reliable according to sensitivity analysis, the conventional treatment combined with point application has a better effectiveness, there is no statistical difference on clinical effect between point application and acupuncture. Conclusion: The study shows that point application has a better effectiveness than drug, and there is no statistical difference between point application and acupuncture. Yet the included researches have general low quality, researches of high quality is needed.
