ObjectiveThrough reviewing the basic information of the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis. the aim is to fully understand the real situation of reporting quality about the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture treating scapulohumeral periarthritis for nearly 20 years, find the existing problem of the factors influencing the quality of the literature and the solutions, in order to provide methodological reference of clinical research and writing thesis in the futureMaterial and MethodBy Comprehensively retrieving China Biological Medical literature database ,Chinese National Knowledge Infrasracture, Wanfang database and China Scientific Journal Database. (Web version) collecting acupuncture treating scapulohumeral periarthritis from January 1991 to September 2010, Applying bibliometrics statistical method, using internationally recognized the standard of the Consoliated Standards of Reporting Trials(CONSORT) statement,Standard for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture(STRICTA)and general information on papers, the aim is to assess and analyze it. The evaluation include publications time, author affiliations, source journals, funded scientific research, title, summary, introduction, Cases source, diagnostic criteria, Inclusion criteria, exclusive criteria, curative standard, interventional measures, research purpose, measurement characters, sample size, the pseudo-random sequence generation method, implements process, blind, statistical methods, subjects flow diagrams, the baseline data ending and associate analysis, adverse events, popularization and basing on the current evidence to explain the results, theoretic basis for acupuncturing, acupuncture details, acupuncturist qualifications, comparison interventions, and so on, using EXCEL2003 for establish database is to statistical analysisResult Through different database of retrieval requirements, the research includes 345 articles of the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis. Which is in 130 academic journals, core periodical accounted for 36%,research fund support literature only 7 article (2.0%) including the published literature number of municipal hospital and basic-level hospitals at least 55 percentThe quality results of the CONSORT standard assessing and analyzing the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis:From the situations of research object reported,84 articles (24.3%) describe each baseline conditions and clinical characteristics,205 articles (59.4%) given diagnostic criteria,318 articles (92.1%) describe curative effect standard of scapulohumeral periarthritis, the same articles appeared inclusion criteria and exclusion standard has 32 articles (9.3%), all papers are not subjects flowchart and follow-up period recorded; From the information report of random and blinding, 53 articles (15.3%) describe the method of generating random sequence,4 articles describe the hidden scheme of distribution, which is the envelope or center random, the literature do not describe concrete implementation,8 articles (4%) describe blinded application, because the particularity of acupuncture, all for single-blind; From the situations of follow-up report and adverse events,21 articles (6.1%) have follow-up record, but the lack of follow-up process description; 13 articles (3.8%) have adverse events description, all for the control group after the drug caused,no acupuncture adverse events reported; From the situations of statistics and discuss reported.13 articles (3.7%) describe the falling and termination of case, but no analysis of ITT; 36 articles (10.4%) point out statistics software,111 articles (32%) give specific statistical methods,325 articles (94%) describe the results of the statistics.9 articles (2.6%)give specific P value.141 (40.9%) articles interpret the results, all papers do not meet the requirements of generalization and synthesis of evidence. On the basis of the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis. Retrieving the the randomized controlled trials papers of acupuncture treating scapulohumeral periarthritis literature 285 articles. The analysing results of STRICTA:137 (48%) articles describe theoretic basis for acupuncturing, whcih point out that the origin of acupuncture theory and literature sources; In the acupuncture detailed description,38 (13.3%) articles describe the number of needle,71 (24.9%) articles record the needling depth; 85 (29.8%) articles recorded acupuncture reaction; 147 (51.6%) articles describe stimulation; 207 (72.6%) articles record the time of needle retention; 246 (86.3%) articles record the treatment frequency; 265 (93%) articles record course of treatment, 150 (52.6%) articles described the needle length,81 (28.4%) articles describe in the needle diameter,18 (6.3%) articles record Needle manufacturers,23 (8.1%) articles point out the needle material, from which it is not difficult to find detailed description of the domestic literature is not fully enough. In 285 acupuncture literatures,100 articles record intervention with only acupuncture the other on the basis of acupuncture, select auxiliary interventions.47 describes the qualifactions of acupuncturists; Acupuncture intervention on theoretical basis for the control group almost are reported. Therefore, we found that acupuncture reported information is incomplete, theoretical basis for lack of support, which is not conducive to the promotion and application of acupuncture techniques.ConlusionThe amount of acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis is larger, The amount of the randomized controlled trials papers has been increasing year by year. Which provides plenty of evidence for acupuncture treating of clinical experience periarthritis. But we found that the information of clinical reporting is not complete in quality analysis literature, influencing evidence; Report of the content is not standard, reducing the clinical useing; Study design lack of rigorous, influencing the level of clinical research, influence; the analysis on the basis of acupuncture is not complete, making the credibility of the drop; Describing acupuncture details of clinical reporting is not specific, affecting the extension of acupuncture technology, the qualifications of operator reports are incomplete, influencing the homogeneity of study,Not only these problems affects the quality of the randomized controlled trials papers on acupuncture and moxibustion treating scapulohumeral periarthritis, but also influences the inheritance and development of acupuncture and moxibustion technology. For these problems, we propose that the clinical researchers strengthen the training in clinical research methods, design including randomized controlled trials of clinical research subject; popularizing the use of domestic and international recognition of the disease diagnoses and the evaluation standards of curative effect, regulating the writing style of the TCM acupuncture of clinical research papers; strengthening internal management of the periodical, manuscripts requirements and the regime of manuscript reviewers, in order to improve the quality of the published literature, controlling low levels of published papers published from the source. Only in this way can we improve acupuncture clinical research level, to improve the quality of acupuncture randomized controlled reporting in the literature, to provide evidence acupuncture clinical practice guidelines, to boost the development of acupuncture.
