Objective1. To find the blood concentration and its difference of Growth holmone(GH) and Insulin-like growth factor-â… (IGF-â… ) between colorectal cancer patients and controls, to analyze the risk factors of colorectal cancer, to explore the roles of GH and IGF-â… in pathogenesis and development of colorectal cancer.2. To find the blood concentration of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9) of colorectal cancer paients with different prognosis before racial resection, to explore the roles of preoperative CEA and CA19-9 in the prognosis of colorectal cancer.Methods1. The method of non-matched case-control study was used. All cases were protopathic patients with colorectal cancer from Wuhan No.8 hospital, who were confirmed by pathology. Controls were all from other comprehensive hospital in Wuhan, who had no cancer or related diseases. A questionnaire was used to collect the personal information of all cases and controls. The blood concentration of GH and IGF-â… was detected by the method of radioimmunoassay(RIA).2. Protopathic patients with colorectal cancer were selected in this study. All paients were received racial resection and confirmed by pathology. All patients'medical records were Looked up. And all the patients were followed up. Roles of the preoperative blood concentration of CEA and CA19-9 in prognosis of colorectal cancer were analyzed. Results1. We found significantly higher blood concentration of GH and IGF-â… of colorectal cancer patients compared to the controls. For blood concentration of GH, colorectal cancer patients who did not like salt was higher than who did, who did not like fat was higher than who did; for blood concentration of IGF-â… , males was higher than females, who liked smoking was higher than not, who liked drinking was higher than not(P<0.05). Long-term diarrhea, passive smoking, fat and bacon were risk factors; peasant, tea, moderate food temperature, grains, tubers, nuts and pickles were protective factors of colorectal cancer based on this study.2. The blood CEA and CA19-9 concentration of dead cases were significantly higher than alive(P<0.05). The dead cases'positive rate of CEA, CA19-9 and the combination of two above-mentioned tumor markers were significantly higher than alive(P<0.05). Combination of CEA and CA19-9 had the highest authenticity to predict the prognosis of colorectal cancer. For blood CEA, CA19-9 and the combination of two above-mentioned tumor markers positive cases, the survival time were significantly shorter than the cases with negative result(P<0.05).Conclusions1. There was centain relationship of GH and IGF-â… in pathogenesis and development of colorectal cancer.2. High blood concentration of CEA and CA19-9 of colorectal cancer paients before racial resection pointed to poor prognosis.
