Objectives: Analyzed the CEA and CA19-9levels in the patients with the left andright stage II colorectal cancer after resection of the primary tumor and explored theinfluencing factors on the prognosis of patients. Methods The clinical data of217patients during the past ten years in the affiliated oncology hospital of Sun Yat-SenUniversity were analyzed retrospectively. Results89cases (41.0%) were the leftcolorectal cancer.128(59.0%) were the right cases. Afterχ2test, CEA and age weresignificantly different (P=0.029and P=0.005). The Kaplan-Meier analyze forCA19-9in the subgroup of right location found that the patients with a high level hada shorter OS than those low. The independent prognostic factors were tumor location, tumor morphology and recurrence (HR, respectively,1.974,0.472;6.735). The rightstage II colorectal cancer patients and Non-AB blood group pateients had a short OS.Conclusions CA19-9in the subgroup of right location had a shorter OS than thoselow. The right stage II colorectal cancer patients and Non-AB blood group pateientshad a short OS. Those findings could provide useful information to guide therapy. Objectives: Compared the diagnosis performance of serum HE4levels in differentage groups and the clinical significance of elevated preoperative serum HE4levels forovarian cancer. Methods: The levels of HE4were detected by ELISA and the clinicaldata of160ovarian cancer patients,45benign disease patients and106healthy peoplein the affiliated oncology hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University were analyzedretrospectively. Results: In our study, with age-matched groups, serum HE4levelswere significantly higher than that in the control group and benign disease patients.(P<0.001). However, there was no significant difference between the benign disease patients and healthy people. In different age groups, for the best diagnosis, differentcutoff of HE4should be used for differentiating ovarian cancer from benign diseasesor healthy subjects according the age-matched group. Using the value,75,80and130PM for young, middle-aged and old respectively as a cut off points, the diagnosisperformance of HE4is excellent except for the old groups with an inferior diagnosisperformance. Furthermore, it was found that there was correlation between the HE4expression and the FIGO stage(χ2=4.473, P=0.030)in this study. Conclusions:HE4has a good diagnosis performance for ovarian cancer. But in the old group, thediagnosis performance of HE4is relatively poor compared with that in other twogroups. There was correlation between the HE4expression and the FIGO stages.
