Objectives (1)To investigate the association of the all possible risk factors, such as society and demography features, life style, habit, and personality characteristics with premature ovarian failure (POF).(2)In order to determine the risk and protective factors of POF, and to provide scientific basis for further prevention, clinical therapy. Methods We collected informations from Qin Huangdao Maternal and Child Health Hospital by taking the detail history in 87 patients with POF (POF group) and in 87 healthy menopausal women (control group),who were evaluated from August 2008 to February 2010.Carried out the survey with a unified self~made questionnaire. Making a preparing investigation at first in order to check and improve the questionnaire. Gathering the detailed medical history from the two sets femme by face to face, and then fill the actual message in the form at last. Established the data~base with Epidata 3.1 and analyzed with the software SPSS13.0.Results Analyzing the possible correlation factors of premature ovarian failure (POF) by mon~factorχ2 Test: (1)48.2% were 30~40 years. POF was associated with poor familial income (P=0.007), and not associated with body mass index (BMI), age, profession, habitation, education level, marriage. (2)Having had parotitis, varian cyst, alpingitis pelvic inflammation and Operation on abdominal region were important risk factors of POF. (3)13.8% POF patients had family history, POF may be associated with inheritance. (4)POF was associated with irregular period in the year before last menstruation, and menstrual cycle (p<0.05); not associated with age at menarche, menstrual period, menstrual volume and pain. The more artificial aboration, the higher incidence of POF (OR=20.117,95%confidence interval was 2.600~155.619).Using different contraception styles may be associated with POF (p<0.05). Perverse labor was a risk factor of POF (OR=5.769, 95% confidence interval was 2.025~16.434). (5)Smoking was a risk factor of POF,OR=6.734,95% confidence interval was 1.321~28.638),although passive smoking may not associated with POF(P=0.534),Married femme's husband smoking were associated with POF(P<0.001);Indoor~smoking obviously raise the risk of POF(0R=5.000,95% confidence interval was 1.684~14.844),and the smoking~amount were associated with POF(P<0.001);work place suffer the pollution of smoking was also a risk factor of POF(0R=2.027,95% confidence interval was 1.103~3.723). (6)Be used to drink wine, have bad sleep quality and going on a business trip usually were risk factors of POF (drinking wine OR=3.417,95% confidence interval was 1.183~9.866;bad sleep quality OR=6.800,95%confidence interval was 1.914~24.158;going on a business trip OR=2.759,95% confidence interval was 1.136~6.702).(7)Diet associated with POF (P=0.022).The more vegetable, fruit, fish, bean taking and physical exercise, the lower incidence of POF. But sauerkraut, spicy food was a risk factor of POF. (8)Emotion factor, the relationship with relatives and friends, stress or passive life attitude, were highly associated with POF (P<0.05). (9)Hair staining, airdressing and decoration of the house were associated with POF (Hair staining OR=3.696, 95%confidence interval was 1.289~10.596; hairdressing OR=3.645, 95%confidence interval was 1.139~11.671).Computer using may be not associated with POF.Multiple Factor Logistic Regression Analysis: Have a good relationship with friends was a protect factor of POF. Irregular period in the year before last menstruation, tono~work, being used to getting tired, smoking, Husband smoking and salpingitis were the opposite. Conclusions (1) POF was associated with Emotion factor, Gynecolog~ ical disease; (2) Smoking was a risk factor of POF; (3) Period became irregular in the year before POF.
