ObjectiveThe survey was a follow-up visit based on the subject of Dietary Nutrition and Education Fund supported by Danone Nutrition Center-The investigation and comprehensive nutrition intervention for zinc, vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin C absence of disease in Yugur, Dongxiang, Baoan districts children aged from 3 to 6. The status of preschool children's five elements in the total blood and intellectual development were added to the original information. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the influence of different levels of nutritional elements (calcium, iron, zinc and copper) on the growth and development of preschool children.MethodsBy the random cluster sampling and stratified sampling methods, children aged 3 to 6 were selected from Sunan Yugur autonomous county and Dongxiang autonomous county of Gansu Province. General characteristics, children's intellectual and physical development were obtained through questionnaire interview and physical examination. With correlation analysis to evaluate the relationship between intelligence development and nutritional statusResults(1)The blood calcium, iron, zinc and copper of the preschool children in Yugur nationalities ranged from 0.77 to 1.57 mmol/L,6.21 to 8.87 mmol/L,67.92 to 102.20μmol/L,13.88 to 27.94μmol/L. The height ranged from 105.65 to 112.27 cm, the weight ranged from 14.25 to 20.67 kg, the development Quotient (DQ) ranged from 94.29 to 110.2.The Dongxiang's blood calcium, iron, zinc and copper ranged from 1.83 to 3.05 mmol/L,11.84 to 15.60 mmol/L,99.77 to 162.81μmol/L,23.08 to 39.54μmol/L. The height ranged from 102.67 to 109.79 cm, the weight ranged from 14.91 to 19.01 kg, the development quotient (DQ) ranged from 88.35 to 107.55.(2)Spearman correlation in Yugur, Dongxiang nationalities showed that the blood calcium of preschool children of the high blood calcium group were positively correlated with children's height and DQ. Blood zinc of the high blood zinc group was both positively correlated with children's height and DQ. Blood copper of the high blood copper group was both positively correlated with children's height and weight.ConclusionsGrowth and development in Yugur, Dongxiang nationalities preschool children affected by micronutrients. The DQ were higher of the high blood iron and the high blood zinc groups than the normal groups, and the lower of the high blood copper groups than the normal group. So when the micronutrients beyond the normal range, the growth and development on the preschool children are not always beneficial.
