| Subjects "The survey of nutrition deficiency diseases of Zn VA, VB2, VC of the children aged 3~6 of Yugur, Dongxiang and Baoan nationalities and the study of the integrated nutrition intervention" was supported by Danone Nutrition and Education Funds in 2002. According to the survey, it was shown that the children aged 3~6 were deficient of Zn, VA, VB2, VC. The short-integrated nutrition interference didn't work well. On the basis of the pre-research project, for the reality of the rapid economic development recently in Yugur, Baoan and Dongxiang ethnic minority areas, the study of investigating the nutrition status are taken by "Nutrition and Health special investigation" and the result will be compared with that of 6 years ago, in order to understand and dynamic observe the nutrition status immediately, to explore the coordination between the nutrition status and the relative factors, to make the possible improvement and control measures, for providing scientific basis which are used for the nutrition intervention of the minorities in china.Methods By the random cluster sampling and stratified sampling methods,629 children of Yugur, Baoan, Dongxiang nationalities from Gansu Province. Dietary survey was performed by the 3-day continuous 24hour recalled, food frequency and accounting method. The results were analysed and compared with that of 6 years ago.Results Dietary pattern of the subjects is mainly consisted of grains. The intakes of meat and milk were relatively high in Yugu children; the intake of meat was low in Baoan children; The intakes of vegetable and fruit among the Dongxiang children increased. Energy and nutrients intakes:There were about 50% of Yugur and Dongxiang children whose energy intakes was deficient. More than 80% of Dongxiang and Baoan children whose protein intakes was not enough. There are about more than 60% children of these there nationalities whose fat intakes was deficient,83.0% of Baoan,94.1% of Dongxiang. Furthermore, according to the 3 nationalities children, more than 60% whose intakes of VA, VB2, Zn were not enough, expecially VA, about more than 90%. There were about 70% Yugur, Dongxiang children whose intakes of VB1 was deficient. More than 60% children of Dongxiang, Baoan whose intakes of Se was deficient. It was shown that the protein, fat, Fe were mainly from animal foods among the Yugu children, while the protein were mainly from plant foods among Baoan children. AS to the Dongxiang children, the protein from plant foods and animal foods were equal. The dietary fat and Fe were mainly from plant foods among Baoan and Dongxiang children. But the bean intake was low in these there nationalities children. Compared to the 6 years ago, the grains consumption of the children aged 3~6 decreased, the meat and fruit increased and the dietary food became more various. Furthermore, compared to the 6 years ago, the intakes of energy and VA decreased, VB2 and VC increased, Zn remained the same level.Conclusions Compared to 6 years ago, there was an improvement of the nutrition status of Yugu, Baoan, Dongxiang children. However, the resent nutriona status was not good, the deficient of VA, VB1, Zn, Se were still existed and need resolved. So, it is necessary to increase the economical supply of the 3 minority children to increase their life level. We suggest that the synthetical nutitional announcement and integrated nutrition interference should be carried out according to the local areas and the fact, and we should effectively use the local resourse to improve their nutritional status radically in a long time. |
