ObjectiveTo explore clinical effects and the discipline of chronic persistent asthma treated by Heat-Sensitive Acupoints of moxibustion treatment, and also to provide scientific experimental basis for treatment program of this therapy.MethodsThis study is one of several the same period in randomized controlled clinical experiments nationwide institutions.24 cases of chronic persistent asthma patients selected from respiratory and acupuncture out-patient department of Guangdong Provincial TCM Hospital were involved in the clinical observation, and were randomized into 2 groups by the randomized center as the treatmentgroup, and the drug control group. Treatment:1. Patients in the treated group received treatment of Heat-Sensitive Acupoints of moxibustion; First to find out the Heat-Sensitive Acupoints by hanging moxibustion in the area within the dorsal lateral foot sun Bladder two lines and the lever of Geshu and Feishu Point, moxibustion to the Points in this sense of mass loss, until skin burning up. It takes for 3 months,30 days a course,1 time everyday in the first ourse of treatment for 6 consecutive days, and 1 time every other day in the following days.2. Drug control group, using the British company GlaxoSmithKline's Seretide 50ug/250ug(salmeterol 50ug/fluticasone propionate 250ug), each time a suction,2 times a day, and for 3 months (According to standard medication in the following days).For the tow groups, observe period lasts for 3 months, follow-up observe period persists 6 months. Observe index:(1)Pulmonary function tests:Peak Expiratory Force (PEF) and Forced Expiratory Volum in the First Second(FEV1), (2)Asthmatic symptomatic score. (3)Clinical effieacy. Observe time points are pretherapy, posttreatment half a month, posttreatment a month, posttreatment 2 months, posttreatment 3 months,3 months after treatment finished, and 6 months after treatment finished. Database entry and statistical analysis run by spssl8.0 statistical software. Measurement data was used to compare group paired t test, measurement data between the two groups using analysis of variance, count data were compared with X 2 test grade data were compared with Wilcoxon test.Results1. General information on pre-treatment compared to two groups of gender, age, and course of disease compared, difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).2. Comparison pulmonary function:Before and after treatment, between the two groups there was no significant difference(P>0.05). In the Drug group, there was a significant difference (P<0.05) between posttreatment 3 months and pretherapy;there was no significant difference(P>0.05) through treatment group.3. Comparison of Symptom score:Before treatment, patients with symptom score differences between the two groups had no significant(P>0.05), does not have statistical significance.After treatment, the two group patients Syndrome Points were significantly increased compared with before treatment, there is a very significant difference(P<0.05);Ands so does between the two groups. To point out that the two groups both can improve clinical symptoms, but the treatment group in improving the clinical symptoms is superior to drug therapy group.4. Comparison of clinical efficacy:treatment group 10 cases, control 5 cases, partial control in 2 cases, ineffective in 3 cases, the total effective rate was 70.0%;Drug control group 11 cases, control 3 cases, partial control in 5 cases, ineffective in 3 cases, the total efficiency 72.7%. Between the two groups there was no significant difference(P>0.05) in clinical efficacy.5. Safety observation:Both groups had 1 adverse reaction, and interrupted the treatments under the provisions of adverse reactions.ConclusionsIn the side of pulmonary function and clinical effieacy.the two groups were about the same. But Heat-Sensitive Acupoints of moxibustion treatment is better than the control group in another side of improving symptom score and disease control.
