Clinical Comparison Of Proximal Humerus Internal Locking System (PHILOS) In The Treatment Of Proximal Humeral Fractures

ObjectiveTo compare the treatment of cl inical curative effeet of Proximal Humerus Internal Locking System (PHILOS) for simple and complex fractures of proximal humeral fractures.Methods 23 cases of proximal humeral fractures from Jan.2007 to Dec.2010 in the guang anmen hostipal treated with Proximal Humerus Internal Locking System (PHILOS) were retrospectively analysed. According to the fracture line and the extent of damage is divided into two groups:simple fractures(two-part fracture) and complex fractures(three-part fracture and frou-part fracture), All the patients were treated with open reduction and PHILOS plate internal fixation. The analys is compares two group of operating time, hemorrhage quantity, fracture healing, fixture rupturing or loosing, avascular necrosis and the standard of Neer shoulder aeeessmen.The data used SPSS12.0 software statistical package for statistic alanalysis.Results A total of 23 cases, in which the simple fractures group were 3 males and 5 females, the left side 4, the right side 4, the age of this group ranged from 56 to 85 years old, with an average of 71.86±9.96 years. The complex fractures group were 5 males and 10 females, the left side 6, the right side 9,the age of this group ranged from 55 to 83 years old, with an average of 68.73±7.95 years. The Operating time of simple fractures was104.38±15.45min and the complex fractures was 139.00±39.61min. Their hemorrhage quantity respectively218.75±84.25ml and 313.33±100.83ml. They were healed after the reoperation. The 23 patients were followed up from 3 to 15 months(average 11 months). The simple fractures group according to the Neer scoring system excellent in 6 cases, good in 1 cases,moderate in 1 cases. While the complex fractures group also according to the Neer scoring system excellent in 5 cases, good in 6 cases, moderate in 4 cases. Conclusions The PHILOS plate in the treatment of simple and complex fractures of the proximal humerus was no significant difference. Using PHILOS plate in treatment of simple humeral fracture in operating time and hemorrhage quantity is superior to complex fractures...
