Objective To investigate the clinical effects and advantages of LPHP(Locking Proximal Humerus plate)for treating the proximal humeral fractures. Methods 96 cases with proximal humeral fractures underwent operations from Jan 2000 to Jan 2008. There were 46 males and 50 females. The age of this group ranged from 23 to 78 years old, with an average of 57.6 years. According to Neer classification, there were 21 cases of NeerII Type,45 cases of NeerIII Type, and 30 cases of Neer IV Type. There were 47 cases were treated using LPHP, and 49 cases were treated by conventional surgical operations. Retrospectively analyzed and compared the outcome and complication of the proximal humeral fracture by the locking proximal humerus plate and conventional surgical operations. Results The all patients were followed up from 2 to 40 months(average25 months).According to the score of Neer, the clinical results for LPHP were obviously better than those for conventional surgical operations(P<0.05). Therpeutic satisfactory rate is 89.3%.Conclusion Locking proximal humerus plate(LPHP) is a better material of internal fixation for proximal humeral fracfures.
