Objective This paper aims to reveal correlation between clinical features and TCM syndrome of PCOS patients in the Chengdu area so as to summarize its general rules and provide objective basis for clinical syndrome differentiations and treatments of this disease. Methods This paper complies with the clinical research method for sectional study and 142 PCOS patients meeting inclusion criteria of cases are surveyed; changes of clinical features of the patients shall be analyzed and observed based on the results of investigation, and syndrome differentiations including groups of kidney-yang deficiency, groups of kidney-yin deficiency, groups of kidney-yin & yang double deficiency, group of kidney deficiency and blood stasis, groups of liver-qi stagnation, groups of blood stasis, groups of spleen-deficiency and phlegm stagnation and groups of shall be divided according to relevant diagnosis standards, statistical analyses shall be made to summarize the general rules and obtain relevant conclusions. Results (1) constituent ratio of PCOS patients with paramenia and infertility in Chengdu is relatively higher, accounting for 81.69% and 43.66% respectively; incidence rate of high androgen is around 28.87%, but constituent ratios of hypertrichiasis, acne and acanthosis nigricans are lower, being 22.54%,16.90% and 2.11% respectively; ovary volume expands lightly with a percent of only 51.41%; constituent ratios of obesity and HINS, constituent ratio of polycystic ovary and LH/FSH ratio respectively increases by 44.37%,27.46%,89.44% and 57.75%.(2) TCM syndrome of 142 PCOS patients in the Chengdu area are mostly with kidney-yang deficiency, which is basically due to kidney deficiency, and temporarily caused by functional disturbance of the kidney, liver and spleen as well as blood stasis and turbid phlegm.(3) clinical features with statistical significance to PCOS TCM syndrome differentiation are obtained by chi-square test:menstrual disorder and PCO of PCOS patients with kidney-yang deficiency in the Chengdu area is extremely more frequent than that of other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.05);LH/FSH ratio (≥2) of PCOS patients with kidney-yang deficiency and liver-qi stagnation in the Chengdu area is much higher than those of other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.01), but no difference between them (p>0.05); infertility, hypertrichiasis, acne, high sera androgen of the PCOS patients with liver-qi stagnation in the Chengdu area are significantly more frequent than those of any other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.01); hyperinsulinemia, and obesity of the PCOS patients with phlegm stagnation in the Chengdu area is obviously more frequent than those of any other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.01); and Ovary volume (>10cm3) of PCOS patients with kidney deficiency and blood stasis in the Chengdu is area significantly higher than that of any other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.01), Kidney-yang deficiency and liver-qi stagnation in the Chengdu area is much higher than those of other syndrome differentiations groups (P<0.01) Conclusion (1) incidence rate of some clinical features of the PCOS patients in the Chengdu area is inconsistent with relevant reported data, so there might be some regional differences and racial differences of the PCOS clinical features changes, therefore, large-scale epidemic surveying analysis shall be confirmed in many areas and centers among various races.(2)PCOS clinical features changes in the Chengdu area is closely related to TCM syndrome differentiation, and it can be used as reference basis of TCM syndrome differentiation of the PCOS patients.
