Objective:To study the clinical effect of curing dysthymia by acupuncture and medicine. To explore the coordinate effect of using acupuncture and medicine in the curation of dysthymia. To create a standard curing scheme which is simple and safe and easy to carry out.Method:Choose 72 patients with dysthymia,which are conform to the standard of The 3rd edition of classification and diagnosis of mental disability (CCMD-3).According to the (HAMD-17),the score of patient whose symptom is between 7-24 can be included in.Put them randomly into 3 groups,lst group:electrical needle with medicine,2nd:electrical needle,3rd:medicine.After 4-8weeks,compare the scores by HAMD-17,CGI,SERS and improve it.Result:After 8 weeks of clinical studies, there is a significant difference between using both the electro-acupuncture and western medicine and the simple use of acupuncture or western medicine in improving the degree of emotional depression.Conclusion:"Acupuncture combined with medicine" shall regulate the function of Qi together with unblock the liver Qi stagnation and regulate the spirits while treating the Dysthymia, meanwhile it can reduce the side effects by using western medicine alone. the treatment by using both the acupuncture and western medicine has more advantages when compared by the simple use of acupuncture or western medicine in dealing with Dysthymia,and it is Worthy of further clinical research and extension.
