Cervical spondylosis is a common disease in middle-old age person, in the all kinds of it, the incidence of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy is maximal, about 60%. With the development of modern society and the change of the way people living and working, the characteristic of cervical spondylosis presents that the patients are getting younger and the incidence is increasing. So it has an important practical insignificance to strengthen the clinical research of cervical spondylosis, especially cervicalspondylotic radiculopathy(CSR).Objective To observe and evaluate the effect on treating CSR by pulling and bonesetting manipulation plus Electro-Acupuncture, and compare with the traction plus electro-acupuncture, through scientific and precise clinical experimental method. The purpose of this study is to improve the clinical effect, and to provide the basis for clinical treatment optimization. Methods Sixty cases of CSR were randomly allocated into the pulling and bonesetting manipulation plus Electro-Acupuncture group (therapy group) and the traction plus electro-acupuncture group(control group), with 30 cases in each group. In the therapy group, first, the electro-acupuncture was applied, selecting jiaji (EX-B2), according to the lesion sites, of each time 3-5 pairs. After the treatment of electro-acupuncture, bonesetting under traction was used, such as bonesetting by pushing, waveing,or moving. The same electro-acupuncture was applied in the control group, next, the pulling and bonesetting manipulation. One time per day,10 times is a course of treatment. In this study,â… used Cervicalspondylotic radiculopathy symptoms and function scales(JOA), Visual analog scales(VAS)and Present pain intensity scales(PPI), to evaluate the efficacy before and after the treatment to assess its clinical curative effect comprehensively. Results Clinical recovery rate is 85.7%, total effective rate is 96.4% in the treatment group, and 53.6%,89.3% respectively in control group. Through chi-square tests, there's no significant difference between two groups in effective rate, (P>0.05), but it has significant difference in clinical recovery rate, (P<0.05), which means the treatment group is superior to the control group.Applying visual analogue scale(VAS) to score the two groups at the beginning and the end of treatment. Both of the VAS scores in the two groups are descend, there's significant difference, (P<0.01), which indicates the two groups'therapy is effective. Comparing the two groups'VAS scores after the treatment, the score of treatment group descend more obviously than control group, (P<0.05),which means the treatment group is superior to the control group on improving pain syndromes. Applying present pain intensity cales(PPI)to grade the two groups at the beginning and the end. Both of the PPI scores of the two groups are descend, there's significant difference, (P <0.01),indicating the two groups'therapy is effective. Compared the two groups'PPI scores after the treatment, the score of the treatment group descends more obviously than the control group, (P<0.05), which means the treatment group is superior to the control group on improving pain intensity, and then through assessment scale for Cervicalspondylotic radiculopathy symptoms and function, compared the two groups'scores after the treatment, the result is that the score of the treatment group is more than the control group, which means that the the treatment group is better than the control one in improving cervicalspondylotic radiculopathy symptoms and cervical functions. Conclusions Using the pulling and bonesetting manipulation plus Electro-Acupuncture to treat the CSR can quickly relief patients'clinical root pain symptoms. This method is relatively safe and simple to operate, with almost no atrogenic injury. This method is not only to correct cervical joint malposition but also to treat the soft tissue damage. So it can treat both principal and secondary aspect of disease. This method has the advantages of pulling and bonesetting, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
