Backgrounds:It's shown that the pathology of Chronic Heart Failure Disease has changed dramatically since the last decades. Furthermore, the understanding of Chronic Heart Failure Disease pathology has been changed by the modern medicine since 1990s. Under the impact of this medication also experienced some relevant changes. For instance:Change from digitalis and diuretics, non-digitalis inotropic drug and extender vascular drugs into the treatments which are based on ACEI and Beta blocker. Now the patients are treated with traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine at the same time in the TCM. At present, there is no evidence to confirm that Whether the Traditional Chinese medicine remedy of Chronic Heart Failure Disease will change or not after the Western medicine changes.Objectives:To make a research about the changing trend of Chinese and Western medications and investigate the general situation, essential diseases of Heart Failure patients from 1st Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine during the last 10 years.Methods:To collect 2 groups people who were diagnosed with Chronic Heart Failure Disease and left hospital during January 1st to December 31st in 1999 and 2009 respectively. And compare the clinical analysis and the change of the Chinese and Western medicine treatments.Result:202 cases were selected:including 91 cases in 1999 (male 54 cases, female 37 cases) 111 cases in 2009 (male 60 cases, female 51 cases) The average age of group 1999 and group 2009 are 65.33±12.134 years and 69.54±11.071 years respectively (p=0.01), the average hospitalization days of them are 20.33±10.32 days and 11.65±5.88 days (P<0.00). The patients were divided intoⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳaccording to their heart functions when they are hospitalized. The proportions are:21%:52%:24% for group 1999.16%: 38%:46% for group 2009(p=0.02). There is no obvious difference in terms of recovery and death rate. Concerning the essential diseases which can cause the Heart Failure, The proportion of Rrheumatic Heart Disease from 26% in 1999 dropped to 16%, the proportion of coronary heart disease rose from 25 % to 45%.The usage of Western medicine treatments during the hospitalization:1999 group:oral nitrates 73.6%, intravenous nitrates 14.3%, digitalis 73.6%, ACEI 53.8%, diuretics 52.7%, aldosterone antagonists 30.8%, CCB 37.4%,βreceptor blockers 28.6%, ARB 0%; 2009 group:oral nitrates 27.0%, intravenous nitrates 27.9%, digitalis 74.8%, ACEI 82.0%, diuretics 92.8%, aldosterone receptor antagonist 88.3%, CCB 35.1%,β-blockers 68.5%, ARB 19.8%.The usage of traditional Chinese medicine treatments during the hospitalization:1999 group:remove" Shui" drugs was 12.6%, add "Qi" drugs was 17.9%, nourish "Yin" drugs 12.1%,16.7% promoting blood drugs, expectorants drugs 18.9%,4.3% nourish "Yang" drugs, Qi-regulating drugs 4.4%,2.8% anti-"Re" drugs, other 10.5%. 2009 Group:remove" shui" drugs was 18.8%, add "qi" drugs was 21.5%, nourish "Yin" drugs 10.4%,18.7% promoting blood drugs, expectorants 9.4%,6.2% nourish "yang" drugs, qi-regulating drugs 4.3%,2.0% anti-"re" drugs, other 8.7%. Compare with the usage of the remove" shui" drugs, add "qi" drugs, expectorants and nourish "yang" drugs, two groups are quite different.Cone lusion:Over the last ten years, the hospitalized patients with Chronic Heart Failure Disease in 1st Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Traditional Medicine. The ratio of gender has no obvious difference. The proportion of Essential diseases and Coronary Heart Disease is showing an upward tendency, but the ratio of Rheumatic Heart Disease is dropping significantly. Western medicine treatments:beta blockers, ACEI and ARB, statins applications have increased dramatically. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment drug species both groups focused on eight group drugs: remove" Shui" drugs, add "Qi" drugs, nourish "Yin" drugs, promoting blood drugs, expectorants drug, nourish "Yang" drugs, Qi-regulating drugs, anti-"Re" drugs. The usage of remove" Shui" drugs, add "Qi" drugs, promoting blood drugs, nourish "Yin" drugs has increased slightly, the usage of nourish "Yin" medicine, eliminating phlegm drug is showing a downward tendency.
